What was the man known as Jesus Christ trying to teach.? Obviously there is no way to prove what Jesus said or didn't say, but he was a master, actually one of many through the millennia who have taught the same theme of self-actualization in concert with a higher power. I am of the opinion Jesus was telling us what several authors, philosophers and avatars are still telling us - that we already have the connection to the Oneness that manifests our lives.
Wasn't Jesus supposed to have said "The kingdom of God (Heaven) is within"? Did he also say "These things I have done, you shall do, and even more"? If that is so, why would he also preach we can't have an afterlife without him dying and rising from death? That is a blatant contradiction that the fathers of the church wrote into the creed centuries ago. Jesus was trying to tell us we didn't need to fear the words of the Rabbi and we should follow our own heart, or our inner self, because that is our connection to the universe (God). Jesus was telling us to follow our hearts, our connection with God, not the continually passed on "pass-ons" of the Rabbi and Jewish officials. He knew many of the church officials did not live by the truths of love, and we know that is certainly true today too. Self centered-ness comes from a feeling of separation from the One, and Christianity teaches that we must please a deity that is separate from us. That teaching puts the fear into us that causes the self-centeredness that brings so much aggression into this world.
That this man came out of nowhere is another proof that one of positive belief in his (The) power can do what he believes. All radical changes have come from those who bucked convention and rules, forging ahead with their beliefs, no matter the consequences. Hence, a new following called Christianity was born, even though the original message has been changed.
The few words I have written here are meant to be a catalyst for dialogue. Most religions simply teach the same message in the same way, year after year, century after century, with the fear that any change would be catastrophic. Jesus Christ was one of those people who dared preach change, which is the reason he was crucified. Even now, however, it might just be that we can make the true voice of the Master(s) heard. Shouldn't we at least talk about it?

Post a CommentGreat, well thought out article, thank you for wiritng it. Many teachers (including Yeshua bin Joseph - Jesus) have given us this knowledge - we are all gods and the kingdom is within. To paraphrase a Native American proverb 'it's the last place humans will look for the truth'. Nothing is 'out there' - all we need is inside. This truth has been buried beneath the dogma of religion. Organized religions instill (and thrive upon) fear, guilt and the need for blind belief, which makes people maleable and easily manipulated. Just imagine if we all acted like gods and treated others like gods. I'm not referring to the jealous, vindictive Old Testament God, but rather the Oneness, or Consciousness, which we are all a part of. Forgiveness is the key to 'salvation' and treating other beings as you yourself would like to be treated. I would recommend The Gnostic Gospels - The Gospel of Thomas, The Disappearnce of the Universe and A Course in Miracles.
The uniqueness of Christianity is that Jesus is considered the Word of God (His flesh was the Word) Who died and rose again and is returning again to judge the world. So, this Lord is still considered Lord since He is still alive, and considered God because He had no beginning, only an entering into creation. Uniting ourselves personally with this Lord Jesus Christ by Faith through the Sacraments He ordained is the historic orthodox Christian path of salvation, not merely assenting to head knowledge or theology as it seems you've described Christianity. Yes, there are a myriad of interpretations these days since everyone wants to be a prophet, but the historic view is clear.
Interesting take on this....Got me thinkin' Lyn
