Is Cingular Any Good?

The Rollover Minutes Make This Provider Worth it

Cingular advertises itself as the network with the least amount of dropped calls. I have had Cingular for the last three years. I really enjoy it, except for the one thing that they claim they are known for. I find that my calls get dropped quite frequently.
I enjoy the rollover minutes immensely and unlike many other people I know with different cell phone providers I do not have to worry about going over with my minutes. I know that I will always have plenty of minutes available because of my extra rollover minutes. I also believe that the price I pay is fairly reasonable in comparison with other providers, and that because of the rollover minutes I get the best deal of them all.

My only gripe is the dropped calls. I know my house has trees all around it and sometimes I wonder if that causes problems, but occassionally when I am out somewhere the service will go away for a split second long enough for me to lose my call. When I am in my house I can last for about twenty minutes and then I will lose the person I am talking, get up walk around the house and try and find service again. I do not live out in the middle of nowhere. I live in a city on the top of a big hill, so I cannot really fathom why I would not have good service. When I visit my friend's farm out in the country I have poor service, but that is understandable.

When I am in New York City and talking to another friend on Cingular also in the city a call will sometimes get dropped for no apparent reason. We are not in an elevator, not far in a building. I believe cell phone service still is fickle and that the satellites move, so the service moves as well. But until another cell phone provider gives roll over minutes, more coverage, and a cheaper plan I am sticking with Cingular. And even if a provider did offer that I'm not sure I would believe it. I think I have come to think Cingular is better than any other plan out there, no matter how much my Verizon friends rave about their plans Cingular is cheaper and has rollover minutes. I would highly recommend Cingular to anyone looking for a plan where they do not have worry about how many minutes they are going to be using up. I personally roll my eyes at people who tell me not to call them during the day because then I know that they do not have Cingular's rollover minutes.
