Is Eating a Raw Food Diet Actually Healthier for You?

Evan Tooley
A raw food diet!? When most people think of eating a raw food diet, their first thought is "yuck" but, what they do not understand are the health benefits they receive from eating this type of diet. After learning the benefits of a raw food diet you may never want to go back to your old diet again.

Do You Feel Tired Constantly?

If you answered yes to the above question, maybe you should give a raw food diet a chance. Before I changed my diet I felt like I had no energy, I would try to sleep longer only to feel even more tired. After years of feeling like I never wanted to get out of bed I knew I had to do something, that's when I came across an article about eating a raw diet. I figured I had nothing to lose, it's not like I had to go buy any special foods like other diets require. I actually ended up saving money when I went grocery shopping because I was no longer needing to buy breads or dairy products.

I noticed shortly after starting my new life style, of eating a raw food diet, that my energy was better than it ever had been before. Within the first week I felt like I wanted to go on walks with my dogs, it no longer felt like a chore to me. I even began to wake up before my alarm could go off, now I don't even need an alarm clock to wake me up! I can function better now on 5-6 hours of sleep with my raw food diet than I could on 8-10 hours of sleep on my old unhealthy diet. Eating a raw diet has helped me maintain my energy throughout the day.

So How Does Eating a Raw Food Diet Give You Energy?

Our bodies use nutrients that give us energy to do our daily activities. When you cook your food you lose valuable nutrients that we need to survive. One of the most important nutrients that is lost during the cooking process of our food are our enzymes. Raw foods naturally have high amounts of enzymes in them, which our bodies can use to help produce more energy.

Our bodies naturally have enzymes but, if we do not get enough throughout the day, our bodies have to start using stored enzymes to help break down our foods to give us energy. When our enzymes are being used to break down our food instead of being used for activities we begin to feel sluggish and lazy.

Living Foods

Raw foods are considered to still be living because of the high amounts of nutrients that they still carry, cooking food kills the nutrients meaning the food is dead or useless to our bodies. Raw foods are packed full with nutrients that give us more energy than we could ever think possible.

Would You Like to Lose Weight or Have Clearer and Younger Looking Skin?

It's been reported that people who ate a raw food diet lost weight without even trying to, they also noticed how much clearer and younger their skin looked. And the reason why is because when you eat raw foods you are eating foods that are packed with nutrients your body needs, your body no longer has to process out those nasty toxins from your blood created from cooked foods.

Raw foods are also richly filled with water and other vitamins that helps keep our body from becoming dehydrated. The more water we have in our body, the better our bodies can flush our systems of toxins and waste, which means a more beautiful you!

I could list the benefits of eating a raw food diet until I turned blue in the face, but the only way to prove to you how eating a raw food diet is actually healthier for you than your "dead" food diet is to ask you to try raw foods. You can start out small and begin to eat your fruits and vegetables raw not cooked and to slowly weed out dairy and bread products. Once you start to see the health benefits of the raw food diet, you will wonder why you didn't start sooner!
