What sets eHarmony apart from the others? It starts with 29 dimensions of compatibility. In layman terms you will have to take a personality test. If you don't have 45 minutes to an hour to fill it out then its best you wait until you do. The test is a long series of questions that are separated into groups. These questions are what eHarmony uses to connect you with. The interesting thing about the questions is that they are designed to make you think; really think about who you are as a person and who is really best suited for you. After you answer the questions you will have to wait for your matches to be sent to you.
The pros and cons of using eHarmony are many. The cons are that you can not browse profiles like you can in most other sites you have to wait for the system to connect you with people who are scientifically suited to you. The wait can be a few hours to a few weeks depending on who is signing on that matches you on the 29 dimensions. Another con is that your match may not be local to your area so if you are looking for a long term relationship with someone who lives in your state you may be in for a surprise. If you are in New York for example you may have a soul mate or best match in California. The membership price is a bit steep. If you want to join after you answer the questionnaire so you can actually connect with your match there are three different plans. There is the 12 month plan, 6 month plan and the 3 month plan. They are billed in one installment so instead of paying the $23.00 monthly for the 12 month plan you will be billed $287.40 on your credit or debit card. Another con is that there is levels of communication after you join. Once you meet a match the system is designed for you to send the person questions that they are to answer and send back to you which mean you will not communicate with them in real time, through instant messaging or telephone until after you reach a certain level of communication. It is one of the ways they make sure you pay a membership fee for a longer period of time. Next up is the pros of using eHarmony.
There are some pros to using an online dating site so what makes eHarmony different? The first pro is that you get a sense that once a match is sent to your inbox that you already know you're compatible. eHarmony takes the guest work out of it. Though the membership price tag is a bit steep eHarmony offsets this by giving free weekends to connect with any of your matches. So if you and your special someone is both online at the same time and take advantage of the free time you can go through all of the communication steps to the part where you can actually exchange numbers. eHarmony also allows you to decline a match based on a few factors such as they live to far away. They also offer different relationship articles that you can read and get a better idea of what should and shouldn't be done in a relationship.
My overall opinion of eHarmony can be summed up in a few short sentences. Though the idea of meeting someone who matches you scientifically is appealing it may not be worth spending $287.40 dollars especially after being sent a match that you can't speak with over the phone or on instant messaging for a year.
