Fyrinnae doesn't have a brick and mortar store, but their web site more than makes up for it. Rather than just pixelated color swatches, they have photographs of the product. This includes swatches of the color applied both wet and dry on bare skin.
MAC's cosmetic counters have an intimidating reputation. While there are many helpful, kind sales assistants out there, MAC is also known for having customer service that can be condescending and unhelpful. But people go to the counter so they can see the product in real life. Shopping online and having access to Fyrinnae's wonderful pictures makes this unnecessary. I prefer to shop online because it's faster, and if I can avoid getting attitude in the process, I'm all for it.
Fyrinnae donates to a wildlife center, and their hand-created colors are vegan. MAC also donates to charity, with money going to fight AIDS. Neither company tests on animals.
Fyrinnae eye shadows sell for just $5.25 per color. MAC shadows are $14 per color, and you can't purchase samples.
Professional colours are designed to last a long time even in conditions that might normally interfere with makeup.
Arcane magic eyeshadows change colors depending on how the light hits it, and naturally they provide pictures as examples. Archmage, for instance, looks blue/green in one picture, then purple/lavender in another.
MAC always has something new to try out, but even that can get old. Sometimes MAC puts out collections that have "new" shades that look almost identical to older ones. Fyrinnae's inexpensive samples enable you to try out new things with having to spend much or go to a store.
Blendability, color stability, and wear may vary from color to color with either MAC or Fyrinnae. Both have a variety of finishes available, and some will be more workable than others. Fyrinnae has two shades of eye shadow base which are designed to make eye shadow wear longer with no creasing. They sell their eye shadow in a loose powder, but you can purchase their modifier to change the powder to a hardened state.
Which company has the better product? For those who already have their MAC favorites, they may feel nothing can replace them, or be fiercely loyal to the brand. But if you're looking for a fun new makeup look that is a little edgy and you're not stuck on MAC, try Fyrinnae first.

Post a CommentCreepy Doll-The odd stuff you describe with Fyrinnae is pretty standard with mineral makeup, which is what they are, regardless of what they say on their website. Their ingredients are the same as most mineral makeups. They do have a long wait for shipping though.
I've tried a good bit of both and I have to say that MAC products are much higher quality. You pay more, but you get what you paid for. When you use MAC eyeshadows, you do not have to get the product wet or pat it on with your finger (meaning you can't blend or it all comes off) or any of that other nonsense to get it to show up and stay put like you have to do with Fyrinnae shadows.
I don't really like the craziness at the counters either, but there is a solution! MAC sends email offers of free shipping very frequently if you sign up at their web site. That way you can order MAC online but not waste money on shipping, and if you are not satisfied, you can return MAC products.
That said, if you're really broke, it is still probably better to deal with the long wait for shypping and weird characteristics of Fyrinnae than to spend money on MAC that you should be spending on food and rent! I understand that all too well.
I've used both MAC and Fyrinnae, and Fyrinnae takes the cake. They have more colors, and their glittery shadows maintain their dramatic effect because they're loose shadows.
Their customer service is impeccable (I had a problem with a few of my containers, and they gave me a big discount for my next purchase) and I love their products.
I agree with the previous comment. Also, being a vegan i thought that was useful also. Thanks!
Good article, I was just searching for reviews on this brand. And of course I wanted to see how it compared to the brand names like MAC, Urban Decay and Bareminerals.
