Is Glenn Beck Crazy or is it All an Act?

Quoting the Man Who Has Become the Spokesman for the Extremely Extreme Right

Saul Relative
The following is a collection of Glenn Beck quotes, catching the talk show host during some of his finest moments. No one is quite certain if Glenn Beck is actually crazy or if he simply pretends to be crazy.

Like most things, crazy is subjective (on both ends), so the beholder is left to decide...

In May, 2004, in an interview with beheaded American captive Nicholas Berg's father, Michael, Beck said, "Can you let your son's body become the same temperature as your son's head before you turn this into a political campaign against the president? Could you do that?"

In answer to the question: What would people do for $50 million? Asked in May 2005, Beck said, "Would you kill someone for that?...I'm thinking about killing Michael Moore... I could kill him myself, or if I would need to hire somebody to do it,... No, I think I could. I think he could be looking me in the eye, you know, and I could just be choking the life out. Is this wrong? I stopped wearing my What Would Jesus -- band -- Do, and I've lost all sense of right and wrong now. I used to be able to say, 'Yeah, I'd kill Michael Moore,' and then I'd see the little band: What Would Jesus Do? And then I'd realize, 'Oh, you wouldn't kill Michael Moore. Or at least you wouldn't choke him to death.' And you know, well, I'm not sure."

On November 6, 2006: "You know, we all have our inner demons. I, for one -- I can`t speak for you, but I`m on the verge of moral collapse at any time. It can happen by the end of the show."

Also in November, 2006 (14), Glenn Beck interviewed then Minnesota Representative-elect Keith Ellison, a Muslim. He said, "No offense, and I know Muslims, I like Muslims, I've been to mosques... With that being said, you are a Democrat. You are saying, "Let`s cut and run." I have to tell you, I have been nervous about this interview with you, because what I feel like saying is, "Sir, prove to me that you are not working with our enemies -- and I know you're not. I'm not accusing you of being an enemy, but that's the way I feel, and I think a lot of Americans will feel that way."

In January 2009, Glenn Beck said on his program, "The most used phrase in my administration if I were to be President would be 'What the hell you mean we're out of missiles?'"

After Sonia Sotomayor was nominated by President Obama and her Cal-Berkeley speech in 2001 became front page news, Beck said on his radio program, "I think she is a racist. I think she decided things based on race. I think she says that a Hispanic woman, with the experience of being a Hispanic woman can make decisions that a white man can't make. I can't imagine saying that. That's like saying Hispanics can't make money decisions like them Jews. ("The Glenn Beck Program," May 27, 2009)"

I used to think he was just a hysteria monger. Now I realize he is a hysteria addict. Recreational hysteria is such a sad disease.

Q: Is Glenn Beck Crazy or is it All an Act?
    A: Yes.

I saw a video of him talking and crying about his conversion to Mormonism
I am married to a mormon and trust me, if you recover from so much as a cold within 30 days it is a heavenly miracle! Of course being a mormon has not stopped my husband from smoking or drinking. To put a stop that, well THAT would be a miracle!

Intweresting that the drama queen of the news circuit has come down with the very same disease as a character on my soap opera? Coincidence? Hopefully this man is not yanking our chain and suddenly become well through a new and as unyet tried medical break through. Don't misunderatnd me, I truely hope that Mr Beck is able to retain his site, I can think of nothing worse than losing your sight, I am simply commenting on the timing and his tendency for dramas

He got involved in drugs and his life went over a cliff. He got involved with alcohol and his life went over a cliff.
I saw a video of him talking and crying about his conversion to Mormonism.
He's OCD. Everything he involves himself with he drives into the ground.
And he makes no sense. He sounds like a bad translation at the UN.

All the anchors on Fox are actors and the channel itself is just a big joke. And on one April Fools Day, one of the networks executives is gonna come on the screen and say "April Fools".

We'll have to disagree on this one, JLN. I don't find Beck Libertarian at all. I used to watch Beck all the time, even caught his radio program on occasion, but since he's went to Fox, he's gone full-tilt paranoid. Although I do agree much of his stuff is tongue-in-cheek, I find that some of his stuff comes screaming out of neocon right field. I think CNN kept him somewhat in check (and now I wish they hadn't so we could have seen his true colors sooner -- either that, or I missed it completely). On Fox, he has free rein to disseminate his paranoid ideas because they feed into the neocon worldview that the entire world is aligned against the greatest country in the world (and within the US, everybody is aligned against the conservative right). How ridiculously lunatic fringe... By the way, love the new icon...

A lot of what Glenn Beck says is tongue-in-cheek. Hell, George Carlin has said much worse (especially his "how rape can be funny" bit). I agree with a lot of his views, though (even though I took issue his rant on Ron Paul voters being conspiracy freaks, I still knew it was only tongue-in-cheek BS), and I find him to be much more Libertarian than I do 'far-right'.

Um, yeah, I'm sure Jesus would prefer Glenn use a Mach 10 instead; choking is SO Old Testament.

    Great writing!
