Is God on Line

That the cyberspace has expanded is beyond cavil. Millions of believers in a Being more powerful than any of us can ever imagine, and who holds the destiny of this whole wide world in His hands, are on line daily.

This constant access may benefit us, believers, or it may hamper our spiritual growth. Afterall, technology is said to be neutral. It is what we do with it and how we allow it to influence us that will make it good or bad. So, Internet access may benefit believers, if we make it as a channel with which we can further spread the word of God and in furtherance of good works. On the other hand, it may hamper our spiritual growth if we allow the " noise" of the Internet to drown out the "still small voice" of God. The one we each need to hear.

Surfing the net or taking a quick tour around the World Wide Web will make your head spin. Too many information vie for your attention and some will test your faith to the utmost. While it is true that there are educational and useful sites in the internet, it is also true that there are also those that will make you loss sight of the virtues and values you learned from home and school for years. Which is the reason why parental guidance is truly needed by the young ones while traversing the dangerous place called the "cyberspace." If parents will not allow their young ones to be left home "alone," all the more that parents should not allow their children to surf the internet unaccompanied and unsupervised.

To illustrate the ill effect of technology: how many of us will first check our e mails or our cell phones for messages upon rising to greet the new day before we breath a prayer of thanks to the Almighty? If you belong to the vanishing specie of those who reach for their prayer book upon rising, and you are not even a religious who pledge your life in the service of God, then, good for you. You are doing the right thing.

The point is, many of us become so enmesh in cyberspace and in being on line that we even forgo regular church attendance just to stay "connected." Anyway, you reason, with just a "click" of a button on the remote, you could be transported to a live coverage of a church service via satellite. This without the trouble of getting dressed in your Sunday's Best and the hassle of travelling and traffic!

Well, it is a good idea if you can assure me that God is also "on line." Is God on line?
