Gonorrhea (also known as The Clap) has become an increasingly aggressive STD over the course of the late 20th and early 21st century -- and now there's been found a case to be completely untreatable in Japan. Penicillin was considered a miracle cure for the condition when it first came on the scene in 1944, as well as for nearly everything else -- which is the main reason that gonorrhea (and countless other conditions and diseases) has become increasingly resistant to penicillin and other antibiotics, including ceftriaxone. For years now, people have been ingesting meat, dairy and other products made from animals that are steadily fed a diet loaded with antibiotics in an attempt to keep them from spreading diseases to each other and increase their yield of edible flesh. In addition, people have been shamelessly overprescribed antibiotics worldwide for everything from common colds and one-day viruses, further crippling their immune systems and making the efficacy of antibiotics in their body less and less over time. So it's no wonder that gonorrhea and other infections and diseases have become more dangerous to people's bodies and less treatable, and it's safe to say that if the trend of antibiotic overconsumption continues throughout the world -- which I imagine it will -- gonorrhea will be untreatable everywhere, even with ceftriaxone , which is generally considered to be the most powerful antibiotic currently available for the nasty condition.
The symptoms of gonorrhea in both sexes are generally painful urination and/or genital discharge, but successful treatment will prevent further complica'tions such as epididymitis and prostatitis in men, pelvic inflammatory disease and severe birth defects in women. Chlamydia, an STD that is very similar in symptomology to gonorrhea, is also found in 50% of all people who test positive for gonorrhea , and the double whammy effect of two severe, closely related STD s will almost surely cause these short and long-term health problems in infected people who aren't successfully treated. This makes the recent discovery in Japan a cause for concern and a signal to everyone to at least limit their consumption of non-organic animal products, and to take a look into combatting minor illnesses and building their immune systems naturally , without popping an immune-suppressant every few hours that not only destroys bad pathogens but good bacteria (or probiotics) in the body that protects us from picking up future diseases.
If you must take antibiotics, it's extremely important to replenish the good bacteria (probiotics such as lactobacillus acidophilus and bifidobacterium , which are also found in yogurt and other cultured products) that the antibiotics destroy and which keep us from developing future diseases and medicinal immunities. There's plenty of great probiotic supplements on the market from respected companies like Culturelle, Enzymatic , Essential Probiotics and Accuflora . If you plan to eat plenty of yogurt to replenish your body's probiotic reserves, make sure that it is organic and from a trusted company such as Stonyfield Farm or Earth's Best , otherwise you'll be loading yourself with more antibiotics! Or, make it yourself with a yogurt starter kit !
