Is Gossip Girl the New O.C.?

Gossip Girl Has Taken Over the Hearts of America

Gossip Girl is a new tv teen drama that has come off from a series of written novels. The O.C. was this teens generations favorite teen drama and it has now been replaced by Gossip Girl. The Gossip Girl novel series was written by Cecily con Ziegesar. This hit tv series has been a great hit! It is inspired by New Yorks socialite, and who else wouldn't teens want to idolize but the girls that have it all. They aren't the greatest role models in the show as they grow up in New York City's Upper East Side. They attend a private school and deal with sex and drugs. Fans are addicted to this type of hit series because it is something that the average girl doesn't do.

The show is exciting because they get to travel to the Hamptons, they ride in limos and are surrounded by the elite at such a young age. They have the world at their finger tips even though they deal with issues that could suffice a heart throbbing girl in late twenties. Since November 19 there have been 3.24 million viewers watching Gossip Girl every Monday night, including myself. It is a good television show to get into for any age.

They have a unique style that now everyone that watches tries to mimic. Blair is one of the main characters, and her unique signature is a bow in all of her outfits. Serena, another main character also keeps up with fashion. They are known as young socialites, that keep up with the latest fashions that New York has to offer. They spend their usual fashion week in front row. It is a great show that shows how the superficial elite spend their days in the city. The show is filled with scandal and teen-love that will leave you with your jaw dropped.

Gossip Girl is the new O.C. of 2008, with its ratings, and hot actors, everyone should agree that it is a must see. But I have heard that if you have read the series of novels that inspired the tv series you will not feel that they are the same, but that doesn't mean that you won't love it! I've watched the O.C. since the beginning and this is the second television series that I have been addicted too! The O.C. seems to focus more on Ryan (one of the main characters) entrance into a new social class. He is faced with problems that surround him becoming a member and starting his initiation into the social class. Gossip Girl is an upper class of its own. The characters are faced with issues that surround the young group of teens that seemed to have grown up at early age. The two television series are great, but Gossip Girl has taken the reigns!
