Is Hillary Just Crazy or Crazy like a Fox

Hillary's Punting of the Jewish Rally, a Valid Reason or Not

Amanda Keller
Hillary Clinton is a highly intelligent, politically astute person. She has been a productive Senator for New York who, though a staunch Democrat, has worked with those across the aisle, earning her the respect and some may say fear of her Republican counterparts. So why would Hillary Clinton decide to pull out of a Jewish rally scheduled at the U.N. in which the purpose of the event is to protest the appearance of Iranian President , Mahmoud Ahmadinejad? Hillary's camp cites Sarah Palin's joint attendance at the rally as turning the rally into a partisan event. What? Where is the sense in that? Would not Democrats want Republicans to jointly support the protest against an enemy of the United States? Would Democrats only want Democrat soldiers fighting in our war against terror? Come on. Hillary has no fear of appearing in the same rally as Sarah Palin. In fact, she has stated outright that she will not campaign against Sarah Palin. So why the illogical claim that Palin's presence renders the rally partisan? Why would Clinton brazenly insult the important Jewish groups sponsoring this rally, making Palin look, by default ,more pro-Jewish, even more pro-American than the Democrats?

Either Clinton is going off the deep end, loosing her touch with what resonates with voters, throwing in the towel after being robbed of the Democratic nomination and snubbed for the V.P. job or she could be dealing Obama as good as she was dealt from him. Clinton is keenly aware of the power she still wields in Democratic circles. She is no fool. Her pulling out of the Jewish rally is a direct reflection of her party's candidate. If she snubs the Jewish vote it is as good as Obama himself delivering the single finger salute to the Jewish community and there is not a thing Obama can do about it. Obama is boxed in and Hillary knows it. If he takes Hillary off the campaign trail he assures 90% of her voters will swing to McCain simply out of protest. If he keeps her he thought he could contain the exodus of Hillary supporters from him to McCain or at the very least, deflating their enthusiasm, keeping them from voting at all. Obama, in his naivete, actually thought Hillary, who'd actually paid her dues in the Senate, working for New York rather than using her seat from day one as a place to run for President, would take her proper place and do as she was told. Oh, contrare Senator Obama!

Clearly, Clinton does not want McCain as president. She does not agree with Senator McCain on the majority of issues. More than all of this, however, she does not believe Obama can accomplish the job as president, regardless of where he says he stands on issues. Remember the off the cuff remark of Bill just a few weeks ago alluding to this very point? Add this to the fact that Hillary was cheated out of her earned position in the Democratic primary by such unfair practices even the Clinton's were shocked, there is no way, no how, not in this lifetime, that Hillary Clinton will stand by and allow Obama to take the prize. I believe she would rather see McCain, a man Hillary disagrees with but respects, take the White House rather than a person she believes is inept and ill-equipped for the most important political position in the world. I could be wrong. Hillary well could have gone bonkers after enduring the betrayal of the century (making Bill's dalliances look almost impotent, pun intended). Who could blame her for becoming unhinged after such disappointment? Even Al Gore went a little loopy after the Florida fiasco. But something tells me Hillary is tougher and shrewder than that. She has a new mission and I believe she will succeed in this one. Obama, honey, your chickens are coming home to roost.

  • Hillary snubs the Jewish rally. Her true motive for this is in question.
Bill Clinton makes mention of voting for someone you don't agree with all of the time as long as the person can get something done as opposed to someone who sounds good but can affect nothing. Could this be the new Clinton strategy?

Of hitting at the traitors in her own party who pulled her leg. I like that .

I would say she is crazy like a fox. The statement Clinton is making is that she's not a foreign policy lightweight and was invited based on her expertise (and the reality she is the junior Senator fron New York, where the rally is being held). The subtext of her bowing out is that Palin is a lightweight and was only invited because she's running for office. I may not agree with Mrs. Clinton on much, but this is a shrewd move to show she's in a higher league and to send that message out to all those wannabe crossovers who supported her that it's not a woman thing, it's a competence thing.

Very interesting analysis. You are right, Hillary does not think Obama is ready to be President. She's made that abundantly clear on many occasions.
