Is the iPad 2's Backlight Bleeding Apple's New iPhone 4 Antennagate?

Just How Bad is the iPad 2's Backlight Bleeding Deffect?

Just last year Apple had one of its biggest blunders in the form of the "Antennagate" which was the name given to the iPhone 4 defect that automatically dropped calls when the lower left edge of the phone was held. Antennagate generated lots of hoopla in 2010, but Apple seems to have another problem in store for 2011; the iPad 2's backlight bleeding. Is the iPad 2's backlight bleeding Apple's new Antennagate?

I purchased two iPad 2's on launch day for my wife and I [and I was first in line - waiting over 10 hours to nab them] and just a few days ago, while viewing a dark photo on my tablet, I noticed that there was some sort of yellow discoloration at the bottom of my iPad 2 screen [near the home screen] - and upon further examination, I noticed that the weird yellow hue also appeared at the top of my tablet and a little on the sides as well. The discoloration wasn't too noticeable, but after spending over $1,700 on iPad 2s; any problem is a big problem.

Shocked by the backlight bleeding, I checked my wife's iPad and unfortunately her tablet was affected by backlight bleeding as well - which was odd because she has a white 32GB iPad 2 and I have a black 32GB 3G. To avoid going insane, I searched the web for the iPad 2 backlight bleeding issue and I was shocked to discover that it was a major issue for lots of fans.

After realizing how widespread the backlight bleeding issue was, my first train of thought was to return our two defective tablets, but after reading the numerous complaints online I decided that it was best not to. Lots of people have returned their defective iPad 2s only to have their second unit be defective as well - and some were on their third and fourth iPad 2s. The backlight bleeding issue isn't just a problem that affects a few iPad owners here and there, it's a manufacture issue and until Apple fixes the issue, I'm going to hold off on returning our defective tablets.

The iPad 2 backlight bleeding issue is likely the 2011 version of the iPhone 4 Antennagate fiasco and if you haven't purchased one - and are in the market - you might want to wait until this thing blows over before you buy Apple's latest tablet.
