Is Jennifer Aniston a TWIT?

Aida Ekberg
This interesting article explores a new phenomena known as TWITS. It may sound like it has something to do with Twitter or that it's describing those blonde bubbleheads that many men seem to enjoy dating, but it's actually a term that stands for 'teenage women in their thirties'. And while Jennifer Aniston doesn't completely fit the bill (she's not a big partier), the fact that she's in her thirties, is dating, has not been pregnant makes her a bit of a TWIT.

But why does our society seem to be so uncomfortable with a TWIT like Jennifer Aniston and others like her? Since Jennifer Aniston and Brad Pitt divorced, her dating life has always been a big deal, and the whole world just seems desperate to see her engaged, married, and pregnant. But why can't Jennifer Aniston enjoy a leisurely life of dating? Why does there seem to be so much pressure on her to get engaged, married and pregnant?

Well, most women will look at a TWIT as someone who isn't a successful female. She's in her thirties, still goes out to clubs, is always dating someone new, and hasn't experienced the joy of being pregnant. To many women, getting married and having a child is one of their biggest goals in life. They look at a woman who hasn't started a family as an irresponsible failure. And since Jennifer Aniston is so beloved by many women who feel sorry for her, thinking she's still heartbroken over losing Brad Pitt, they want to see her go through the same things that made them happy in their own lives. They can't imagine why she hasn't found the right guy, gotten engaged and married again, and ended up pregnant. These are all things that bring such joy to the lives of many women, and it's hard for them to imagine someone wanting something different.

But there are more and more women out there, perhaps inspired by 'Sex in the City', who are choosing the TWIT lifestyle. They like the freedom of going out, dating different men, and not settling down. It's a new feminist movement of female bachelors saying, "why can't I live like this?" Perhaps the bad economy has also been a part of the rise of the TWITs; no woman can afford taking on a man that could lose his job and need to be taken care of.

So I say to Jennifer Aniston: be proud to be a TWIT! Continue dating whomever you like as long as you like, and don't feel pressured to get engaged, married, and pregnant to make the women of American happy. After all, with divorce and overpopulation becoming such a problem, TWITs are starting to look like some of the smartest women out there.

Interesting. This is the first time I've heard that term.
