Is Joe DiMaggio's 56-game Hitting Streak Untouchable?

Derek Jeter May Be "the Guy" to Endure Media Circus and Break Joe D's Record

Joe DiMaggio's 56-game hitting streak impossible to beat? Not if you consider Derek Jeter.

Here's why:
-Jeter has played his entire career in New York, which is a media "fish bowl" in itself.

-He's almost always delivered in the most pressure-packed situations without even flinching.

-The way he approaches hitting is almost scientific. He keeps his own scouting report on every pitcher he faces…and knows what types of pitches to expect with certain pitch count scenarios.

-Even when Jeter is challenged or fooled badly…he has the ability to fight off a bad pitch for a little "Texas Leaguer" single just over the second baseman's head.

-Getting back to the media aspect…as the streak goes on, you can expect Jeter to do what most professional athletes have a tough time with. And that's…handle the media circus with style and grace. He's used to being "the guy"….and when you're dubbed as that, wearing the Yankee pinstripes…and the (hard to impress NY fans) love you…there is no limit.

-Jeter has the unique set of skills, discipline, attitude, passion, and perseverance that it takes to challenge such an "untouchable" streak as Joe D's.

It seems impossible with all the factors mentioned, I know. But someone once sent me a quote which read:
"The only way of finding the limits of the possible is by going beyond them into the impossible" - Arthur C. Clarke

I believe Jeter is one of those rare, unassuming, players that seems to have all the right things clicking at the same time…to make the impossible happen.
