A Look at Dove World Outreach Center's website
A quick visit to Dove World Out Reach Center's website reveals a prominent ad for "Islam is of the Devil" in the right side bar. The color ad is above the fold and is quite a colorful eye catcher. The website also offers "Islam is of the Devil" t-shirts for sale for $20 (shipping included). In addition to hawking his book and t-shirts on the Dove World Outreach Center site, there's a link to the "Islam is of the Devil" website, which also has a store offering the book, as well as anti-Muslim hats, coffee mugs, and t-shirts for sale. In essence, the book is being aggressively marketed on the eve of 9/11.
A Look at Book Sales of "Islam Is of the Devil"
Dr. Jones' book is currently out of stock at Amazon.com and is back ordered at Borders.com. It is still available at BN.com and is ranked at 125,906 in book sales today. By the way, book sales are up at BN.com as "Islam is of the Devil" was ranked at 168,211 on September 6, 2010, just three days ago. Obviously, the widespread reporting of the Koran burning that is planned on the anniversary of September 11 has helped Dr. Jones' bottom line via increased book sales.
The church's plan to burn Korans on September 11 was reported by CNN back on July 30, just days before Jones' book was published in early August. Now that the book has been published and the anniversary date draws nearer, the controversy is sure to help line Dr. Jones' pockets with increased book sale revenue.
Timing is suspect
The timing is suspect. Dr. Jones asserts in a Fox News article that, ""We feel it's maybe the right time for America to stand up. How long are we going to bow down? How long are we going to be controlled by the terrorists, by radical Islam?" It is the marketing of his book, along with the anti-Muslim t-shirts, mugs and hats that speaks of another evil. The love of money.

Post a CommentI think as Christians, we are to love thy enemy. I think their are better ways to express your opinion then to burn the koran. I think we should show a better example and I am glad he did not do it! BUT, I agree with him. Muhammad was, by the history books an evil man! Not at all how they protray him. I think more people should do a little investigation. He was not a good man!! I am glad I am a Christian. God Bless!

Interesting article. It doesn't seem like there is much to gain from burning the koran, unless it would be book sales. I don't blame him for the sentiment, but it seems a bit childish.
