Is it legal for an NFL player to tackle by the hair or dreadlocks of an opponent?
FAQ on NFL and Football Tackling.
The Lions tackled running back Marion Barber by his trademark dreadlocks, specifcially rookie superstar Ndamukong Suh.
Originally, the play seemed okay but the NFL refs stepped in and called a horse-collar tackle on the Lions.
But the play was legal and just another example of referee bias against the hapless Detroit Lions.
It turns out that it is in fact legal to tackle a play by the hair and/or dreadlocks according to Mike Pereira, a former head of NFL officials employed as an analyst by Fox.
That question was a tricky one but the Lions provided the answer.
Strange things seem to always happen in Lions games and they never go in Detroit's favor.
But at least now the football world knows the answer to the question of whether or not NFL players can make a tackle by the hair and/or dreadlocks of an opposing player.

Post a CommentFor what these guys are being paid, they should have to put up with minor inconveniences like getting haircuts. It's a safety hazard, and it hides the names on the jerseys. Let 'em grow it out in the off season.
The NFL should take control over there players and no hair out the helment and pads on legs and hips it is there house not the hair locks hey some of the players might choose to not wear a helment take contol of your house you have control over what they say
Rip it out by the 'ROOTS' !!! Then take it to your sideline and post it on a lance as a trophy. Put a stop to this hair madness.
