Is Madden '08 Wii Edition Worth It?

On August 14^th another game joined the Madden Series. Madden 08 is making its second debut on the Wii console and this game is better then ever. The controls are basically the same as the very popular Madden 07. A change is that sprint is now used by holding down the B button.

EA sports decided to add some new features to this years Madden game. A new feature is called Family Play. Family Play is a easier toned down control scheme so parents and younger siblings can enjoy the game without all the button and motion controls. During Family Play only the Wii Remote is used. You still control the main points of the game but the artificial intelligence does the rest.

Another new and exclusive only to the Wii version of this game is Party Mode. Party Mode is a bunch of mini games. These games are perfect for when you have a bunch of friends over. These games also utilize your Mii's so records are easily saved. Party Mode is another fun time for the whole family or can be played by the intense Madden gamer.

This year Madden 08 includes the use of Nintendo's Wi-Fi. You are able to play anyone in America without the use of friend codes. The online setup is great Ea Nation always does a great job but unfortunately due to Nintendo's poor decision to not include a Ethernet port we are stuck with the lag of Wi-Fi. Another disappointment is there is still no voice chat and the text chat is a long list of preset messages. Stuck with no originality it feels like you are playing a computer player with a lot of lag. The online mode of this game will keep you coming back no matter how many bad experiences you have with it. This game right now is not a must buy. In fact this game may be fun and loads of fun to play it is not worth dumping the fifty dollars on yet. If your not a intense gamer that needs to have this game the day it comes out like my self you should consider waiting a couple of months until you can either find this game used or there is a price drop. There are many great games coming out for Wii and while this is a very good game it is not a game were you need to run out and buy it instantly.
