Mineral makeup has been around since the 70's but has just recently in the past few years risen in fame by leaps and bounds. There are many different brands and prices that can range from less than $10.00 to more than $50.00 but not all are equal in quality, you must choose wisely or you may find your skin in a less than healthy condition than you would like for it to be.
While many mineral makeups may claim to be all natural, you should always check the label for the list of ingredients. Some of these so called all natural makeups will contain fragrance, coloring agents and chemicals that are in many other beauty products on the market. If your skin tends to break out or become inflamed from these chemicals, then chances are the same thing will occur with the use of this type of mineral makeup.
One mineral, bismuth oxycholoride that gives the youthful glow to some mineral makeups, may be claimed as all natural, but this mineral is anything but natural. It is a by product of lead and iron processing and considered a skin irritant that can cause dryness, flaking, itching and rashes. This is one mineral that you will want to steer clear of, especially if you have sensitive skin.
The majority of mineral makeups have the two natural minerals, titanium dioxide and zinc oxide which can actually be of benefit to the skin. Especially if you have a skin condition such as rosacea, or acne, mineral makeup will not only conceal these imperfections, it can also help to improve them as well. The product label will list these two ingredients if they are indeed included within the products content.
There are many wonderful brands of mineral makeups on the market today, but what is right for one person may not be right for another. You may have to try several different brands before you find the right one for your skin type as well as for the coverage that you desire.
True beauty comes from within, the use of mineral makeup will perhaps enhance your outer beauty and let the inner beauty shine through.
