Could it be that Monk writers are trying to focus on this one particular character? Whereas, Psych characters are based on two different or more if you count Shawn's father. "Gus and Shawn" have the ability to make people laugh because they are black and white showing their friendship over the years since they were children, thus giving future writers something to go on as far as the story goes for year long viewers.
Psych is truly amazing! Given the fact that these two young American male people of different races of black and white have grown up together showing their talent as "spirtual advisers" making little money which makes this TV show more interesting in the years to come? And have realized the fact of love and friendship between the two of them, although they have comical differences at times during this hit TV show. Sometimes "Gus" states it's a Black thing and "Shawn" states it's a White Thing! because of their odd differences.
And because "Gus" has a better education than Shawn? Unfortunately, Shawn grew up with this talented gift of being able to see things that no one else can see. His father, a former police officer seemed to ignore Shawn's gift, but later on realized that he may some lost Shawn's interest somehow because he ignored him so much whenever he was a child, which could possibly make future writers think about? And also think about these comical episodes in the future.
Monk on the other hand, seems to runs it's course to the end? The writers have left out "What actually happened to Sharona?" Where did she go with here ex-husband? "Was she killed?" or what happened to her? The writers should think about the fans of this hit TV show soap opera?
Natilie is great! But seems to also leave a lot of open problems and mystery for viewers trying to decide which one is better for the future of this show. Sharona always showed a certain friendship for Monk, and always encouraged him to do better with his life after the car bombing of his wife throughout each and every episode, which is really starting to get old for TV viewers, year after after year. "What's next for writers?"
On the other hand, "Shawn and Gus" of Psych seem to full fill this spirit and hopes for TV viewers because of their comedy with one another that will live lifelong on a TV series such as "Seinfield or I Love Lucy". Gus and Shawn will most likely continue their episodes simply because the writers are NOT focusing on one particular character.
Personally, at the time I like "Shawn and Gus" because they seem to be more entertaining. Monk's character seems to be going downhill and more depressing because of the loss and search of his wife's killer each year. Unfortunately, Natile and the chief captain officer do not seem to make these episodes any better. Although the writers of "Randy" do seem to make things better.

Post a Comment"His father, a former police officer seemed to ignore Shawn's gift, but later on realized that he may some lost Shawn's interest somehow because he ignored him so much whenever he was a child, which could possibly make future writers think about? " did not make any sense because
1. shawn's dad honed his skills and shawn probably wouldn't be the amazing detective that he is w/o his father's help.
2. his father spent a lot of time teaching him more and more even in the episodes.
3. shawn's not even a real psychic. it's not really a gift.
Monk is better although I like both. Actually, my favorite is Burn Notice.
Monk is way better than Psych. I couldn't get past first 3 or 4 episodes of Psych, I realize that I don't care what's going on and I'm bored.
Monk, on the other hand, keeps me hooked with each episode so that I can't stop watching until I'll see all of them.
I never saw the show "Monk," but maybe its time for a change. Great article! Happy New Year!
Oh god, that's like asking to choose between mashed potatoes and gravy, chocolate and peanut butter! I love both shows, but I must say I am seeeriously looking forward to the return of Monk this season. I don't agree that Monk is going downhill -- instead I think the character himself is growing and getting stronger. Did you watch the Christmas special? Monk is getting better, slowly but surely, and I believe he's building toward being a more functional member of society by the time the eighth season finishes. This whole show has been one long redemption arc for Monk, and I for one cannot wait to see how it plays out in the remaining season and a half.
