Is Mr. or Ms Big Worth Waiting For?

A.M. Morgan
The HBO series Sex in the City introduced the character Mr. Big. If you are not familiar with the series Mr. Big is the love interest of the leading lady Carrie Bradshaw (Sarah Jessica Parker). This whirlwind romance manages to go from on to off again within a blink of an eye due to the different circumstances each episode reveals. Mr. Big has it all good looks, financial security, charm and the wit to allure to most of the ladies. There's just one problem despite an obvious attraction between Carrie and Mr. Big the magical moments never lead to a long term commitment at least not in the television series. It may seem simple to most Carrie should completely make herself unavailable to Mr. Big. However, he always seems to be there to mend her broken heart in the many occasions of her rocky personal relationships. It becomes apparent that in the back of Carrie's mind she is holding on to the slight possibility that one day she and Mr. Big will be back together again and this time it might mean forever. Like or not Mr. Big is bigger than the HBO series he's either been someone you know or someone you've been personally involved with. The question is, "How many times will Mr. Big be allowed to lurk in the shadows visiting many hearts on a short term basis?"

Ms Big is the female version of Mr. Big with a little less interest and compassion for a potential suitor. As the Hall and Oates song Maneater goes, "Oh here she comes, Watch out boy she'll chew you up, Oh here she comes, She's a maneater". She's beautiful the kind of woman who stands out in crowds and most men's jaw drops when she walks into a room. She may be ideal in physical expectation but often times she walks around the idea of a solid commitment. Ms Big is perfect if you want to have a good time but expect nothing more from her in terms of long term relationships. She's wild, untamed, and free of inhibitions and most likely misleading many men in believing that they are the center of her attention. Ms Big's inviting eyes, style and captivating nature is sure to lure those who are ruled by physical attraction alone. Watch out gentlemen the Maneater lurks in the night like a "she-cat tamed by the purr of a jaguar". Money and life in the fast lane are her most immediate concerns.

Mr. and Ms Big together would appear to be the perfect match but not quite inseparable. Too much alike these two souls don't usually connect. The person who gets involved in a relationship with Mr. or Ms Big are overly optimistic about fostering a firm commitment from either of them. If you are willing to take the risk of dating Mr. or Ms Big understand your heart is on the line with the possible lost of the investment of your personal time. It is important to consider whether or not the thrill of the chase is intriguing enough to live in limbo. Overall, seriously ask yourself, "Is Mr. or Ms Big worth waiting for?"

Nicely written. They better get married in the movie or its gonna be a lot of pissed off ladies! Ditto for Samantha and Jason Lewis!

Hmm.... Am I the only one who makes the LAW & ORDER da da da noise when I see him. I'm embarrassed to admit as a guy I have watched this show on occasion. Still, it's well-written except by referring to guys by single characteristics. If a guy did that women would be up in arms!

Wow, really cool. I didn't know anything about this show, but now I can't wait to see it. The first thing that hit me is that Mr. or Ms. Big are representations of just one of the many tests we have in life. The Test of recognizing a situation is for it's truth and moving on without growing tired and weary from chasing our own desired outcome in a circle over and over again. We fall victims to these situations thinking we can change them, but fail to realize they are what they are, and all we can do is plant a seed of truth and keep it moving and flowing. The piece may look like it fits, but the bottom line is that looks can be decieving, and every puzzle piece is not taylor fit for yours....God bless!

MythMan J you are right Mr. and Ms Big aren't doing any waiting. The only thing they are really expecting is the next new person to date. Seems like a waste of time but some people believe that the other person will change for them.

The way you describe them, it sounds like MR./MS. BIG ISN'T DOING ANY WAITING; so--quid pro quo--how can they expect any?
