What is it that you seek, that we seek, that man seeks? Is a life worth living measured in ingots of gold or in verses of the heart?
Questions assail us, we who are mortal. At once, we crawl at a snail's pace and at other times, we fly, gratefully and rightfully into the open skies above.
Would it be that we are a spark in the darkness? Or is it that we are a spot of darkness, a shadow, that is burnt away by the unveiling of the sun?
Would it ever be that we join that which eternally is? We grasp and grapple, ignorantly in our wisdom, that which we call wisdom; but truly goes against the grain of nature.
For nature is that which is truly infinite, extending far beyond our sight and imagination and diving far below our senses; this existence is so limited in the face of all that is.
You say that you believe in love, but what is love in the face of nature? It is not love that bursts stars and fuses energy from matter, that splits time from space.
We must, we must ever travail in a limited world, sight within narrow bounds, sensations so limited; what do we know? Touch that which stretches from before your face and runs into the cosmos.
Has a photon from the sun not reached your eye because you closed your eyelid? The proportions are ridiculous; ninety-three million miles to the scant millimeters. Are you ashamed? No need.
Ever so steady, our universe expands; not positively-curved and not negatively-curved. We rejoice in our triangles that measure a precise 180 degrees and in Pi that describes our circles so perfectly.
Why not reach out in your humanness and become pure as an animal or as a plant or as a fungus or as a hydrogen atom? Why are you so great?
Bring out your heart and quiet your mind. Allow Mother Nature to infuse her essence into yours and know true peace.
Now, is this not truth?
