Is Obama a Success? Some Say 'Yes!'

My Obama Poll & the Top 3 Reasons Why People Said 'Yes'

Amy Barnes
I did an opinion poll of my local college, my neighborhood parks, and a few stores and gas stations. The top three reasons why locals have given me 'Yes' results:

1. Anger, Regrets: the largest majority of 'yes' votes that I got were made in conjunction with the words 'I hate Bush.'

I have yet to find a more hated president (Bush). These respondents are mostly of middle age and/or are having trouble in the recession economy. Some have foreclosed. Others of this category are against the war on Iraq.

2. Hope For the Future: Some back Obama's new plan to help homeowners retain their homes.

I called a mortgage company to check on this, and a call center rep told me that the homeowners in question are required to have low amounts of equity in their homes - the loan had to be 95-103% of the home's appraised value. I do not know if she was lying, but it shocked me to hear the terms of her deal. I will be researching this further.

3. Stimulus Plan(s): A few others mention the attention to the new budgetary concerns & the homeland.

Obama has expressed concern for the way the economy is, and has recently offered up a new budget. He has also focused on national problems and is praised by some as a man of action.

My local poll really is nothing compared to the next election - we'll find out the whole truth four years from now, but so far, this is just a small start.

What's YOUR reason for saying 'yes?' Comments are welcome!

  • Many people I spoke with like Obama because they say he's better than Bush.
  • Some people have told me that they support Obama's Responsible Homeowner plan.
  • Other people have told me that they support Obama's stimulus plans and budget.
Obama represents hope for a better economy to quite a few people I've talked to when I polled them about whether or not they consider our new president a success.

Actually it is not Obama or some one else, it is george bush, he is the lowest low in the history, he damaged this country in every way more than any one else can ever do, so any one after george bush will be a great president by just reverse every thing bush had done.

Is Obama a success? Of course he is. He is the first biracial president in U.S. history. Oy, how many times I read: "HIS MIDDLE NAME IS HUSSIEN!!!" (reasons to fear him) and "he is a Muslim" (um, so what if he were which he is not), yet he faced all that bigotry and won the election. As far as being successful as a president, too soon to say. I am disappointed in cabinet picks, and am not the only one who sees many as a "mistake", so time will tell if his choice lead to success.
