Is "Old Dogs" Really that Bad of a Movie?

Stephanie Boren
Old Dogs (2009) is about two lifelong friends, bachelors, and business partners that learn how to change for the better when one of them finds out that they are a father to two seven-year old twins. This movie has the great Robin Williams with John Travolta and his real life wife, Kelly Preston, and their daughter Ella Bleu Travolta. Connor Rayburn, Lori Loughlin, Seth Green, and the late Bernie Mac are also in this film.

Dan Rayburn (Williams) and Charlie Reed (Travolta) are two bachelors living the life of the single man when Dan's ex-wife, Vicki (Preston), comes back into the picture and informs Dan that he in fact fathered a set of twins, Zach (Rayburn) and Emily (Travolta). When Vicki has to leave the kids with Dan for two weeks, he learns just exactly how hard it is to manage a very successful company and to spend time with the children that he did not know about. Meanwhile, Charlie is a typical bachelor who is always looking for a fling and meets Amanda (Loughlin) through his company since she is a translator for potential clients that he and Dan are hoping to work with. At the end of all of it, Dan and Charlie both realized that one thing that was missing in both of their lives: family.

Old Dogs is a great family movie. I do not believe it deserved to have a one-star rating from the critics. Granted, I was half expecting it to be a bit more funny than it actually was, but it was still a good movie; especially with having young children to be able to sit there and watch a movie together as a family. This movie earned three stars out of five and it also proved that people can change no matter how old he or she might be.
