Ken Downing, senior vice presidentand fashion director of Neiman Marcus says, "The new direction for handbags this season is a return to a structured, ladylike handbag." Sister classic-silhouette satchels and frame bags also have their place on the runway.
These handbags all look great with the latest fashiions, and also go well with most everything in your closet except for formal wear. They are retro in style and look, they are turning readily for jeans but can be there through cocktails.
Even though the handbags are smaller, they are not stuffy and there is enough space for all your stuff. The new Fall 2010 bags are modernized with cell phone pockets, sleek hardware and mixed materials. The satchels are adorned with the pervasive cross-body strap. This is a method of revamping a shape that was popular in the 50's and 60's. They have the overall mood of elegance, made of leather or texture-rich ostrich, pony and deer skin, crocodile, aslligator and snakeskin. As a finish, the handbags are trimmed in lace and velvet which adds a bit of romantic. Some are finished in fur or come with a chain and lock.
A woman's handbag is a special assessory. For some, it's a bag of vital importance that copies an emergency kit, sewing kit and a catch-all. For others, it is a way of assessorizing all of her outfits. For each of these women, there are handbags to fit their lifestyle. Whether they need a satchel to carry in their daily activities or a silver clutch to fit against their evening little black dress.
Those who are beach bums may need a Roxy tote for a perfect beach tote. There are bags with zippers, hobo bags and seatbelt bags that are actually made of seatbelts.
The wild animal-coats such as leopard, tiger, cheeta and others - whether real or faux - will remain one of the most popular handbag materials for years to come.
With the uncluttered surface and lack of embelishment, the studding that seemed to be everywhere is now gone. It's nice to be straightened out, cleaned up and to keep things somewhat simple.
