Is Online Training a Better Choice for Businesses?

Subscribing to online training companies that offer access to specialized, on-demand programs gives uses several advantages. For instance, staff members may fit training into their schedule. It avoids the need for a group of users to be online simultaneously, removing scheduling headaches. Users may also progress at their own speed, allowing them to pause the training for workplace interruptions and resume when able. In fact, because this form of training allows users 24/7 access, users may participate after work, should that prove most convenient for them.

Online training businesses featuring training in different topics exist. For example, companies such as Computer Coach offer subscriptions to online, on-demand training in computer topics, such as using popular software programs or more advanced topics, including Microsoft certification courses. Fred Pryor Seminars offers online training in managerial topics, such as Leadership and succeeding as a manager.

Internal Online Training

Certain training topics are proprietary to specific companies. For example, when a business uses a software application designed especially for that organization, internal training from experts familiar with the program and the business work best. For these situations, programs such as Go To Meeting allow trainers to lead classes via their computer screen to groups of up to fifteen people. Students watch on their computer and see exactly what happens on the teacher's computer screen. Participants listen to the instructor and ask questions either using a computer headset or by utilizing a call-in phone number. Go To Meeting also offers other products that allow training for larger groups and have additional features, such as the ability to include quizzes as part of the training. Additionally, facilitators may record the training, allowing participants to review the material at a later time.

Individual Online Training

Internet video conferencing programs all one-on-one training. For example, Skype lets users video conference on their computers through webcams. Participants have the ability to file share and instant message one another during the video conference. As a free program, Skype also benefits the company financially. Skype only permits video conferences with two users as a time, so training involving multiple individuals will not be possible using this program. Most users find it useful to use a quality computer headset with microphone when utilizing Skype.
