Whatever it is, or was, her fans may never know. The 68-year-old is keeping tight lipped about it. Her theory is the only people she needs to discuss it with are her doctors. She then said, "...The problem has been resolved."
This all began when Aretha Franklin had a colonoscopy, which showed that there was nothing wrong with her. A few weeks later, while performing in Canada, she had a pain in her side. She thought the pain was from the colonoscopy.
According to others who have had a colonoscopy, there is no pain or even discomfort following the procedure. She jumped to conclusions, but those conclusions are what made her contact her doctor via telephone at 2:00 AM. This information is from an interview Aretha Franklin conducted with Jet Magazine and reported in USA Today.
The doctor told Aretha Franklin she needed to get back home and get a CAT scan. She did have some type of surgery in Detroit in early December, 2010. She was released from the hospital mid-December.
Stars often find themselves in difficult positions when it comes to telling it like it is. The fans want to know the ins and outs, but it is truly our business? Of course it isn't. Public people don't have to reveal all their warts; they are allowed to have a private life. It is up to each individual, star or not, to decide how much we reveal and how much we keep to ourselves. I don't want my personal ailments discussed by everyone at the beauty shop or water cooler (like that would ever happen anyway!). Miss Franklin has a right to her privacy too.
If she does have pancreatic cancer, or any other type of cancer, hopefully she is being well taken care of. We always want to know every little detail of what goes on in the world. We have to know the why's about everything. We stick our noses in and sometimes get our faces slapped for doing so. Perhaps Miss Franklin is correct in wanting to keep her personal ills to herself. Her fans and the public in general all wish her well. After all, she is still the Queen of Soul.

Post a CommentGreat work on this, Abby! I have been fortunate enough to meet many celebrities, and in my talks with them, I have learned that this is what they consider the "down side" of fame! They apprieciate that people care, but are usually extremely uncomfortable with discussing such deeply personal matters publicly!
Kudos to Ms. Franklin if she can keep the public's nose out of her business. I just hope she's allright.
Hope she's recovering nicely. She does have the right to keep her medical issues to herself.
I agree, the media just pry into everything these days. As a celebrity your life is no longer private.
Exactly!
You're right on, Abby. Goodness, I don't want to know where everyone's little warts are! I have enough of my own to worry about!
Excellent commentary!
You present a good argument here. Nice job.
Faster than a bird dog on fire. LMAO - You are from the country!!!! ;-)
Great work as always. She has a right to privacy!!
