Is Pakistan Truly Our Ally? What Are We Fighting For?

President Obama Bring Our Troops Home Now!

Elizabeth Grieco
I, like most remember how ecstatic we were when President Obama was elected. We believed in his message that he was going to stop this ill-fated Afghanistan war! But to this day, his message has been contrary to what he promised to do for the American people. Thus far, all we have been hearing are excuses and more rhetoric about how we must slow down terrorism and increase our forces by 30,000 strong to combat the villains with counter insurgency.

But we all know now that without the main player, the Afghanistan people and their will to help us combat the Taliban, we don't have a leg to stand on and we will be continually spinning our wheels and helping to kill innocent by standers like the Afghanistan people, made up mostly children and women and elderly folks who have now become the true victims of this ill-fated war!

Whether we decide to withdraw our forces now or later, the fact remains, we are opening the door for other countries to come into a destabilized country to take advantage once again, of her people. The Taliban will be around for another thousand years and it's conservative values are those of many Muslim's worldwide. You know the old saying,"You don't fight fire with fire!". Well this holds true in this country that has known allegiance, since the recent Wiki Leaks, with the strong hold of Taliban's now hiding in Pakistan.

It's obvious to most outsiders that Pakistan is playing both sides very well. And now have decided to ban the use of Facebook and U-Tube, due to it's precarious situation that they have put themselves into! They don't want a resurgence of democracy cropping up,like what is happening in Egypt, against the President Mohamed Hosni Mubarak militaristic government. A young man, Sahid, put a video on face book, twitter and U-Tube of Egypt's military police, dividing up cash amongst themselves from a drug bust but five days later on June 11, 2010 they killed this young 22 year old man, because he wanted to expose corruption in his country! Time video.com has highlighted Egypt's brutality and this has caused a populous uprising in the hundreds of thousands! Of course Pakistan, would not want this to happen in their police state would they? They are now looking to hide the truths and bury them deeper, while in one hand taking billions of U.S. aid then helping the Taliban kill Americans and those who are against this regime! When are we American's going to admit that this strategy of giving large amounts of U.S. aid to an unstable regime such, as Pakistan, and then thinking we can manipulate them forever, is the wrong method of operating? I believe that sanctions are the way to go in this situation.

Their Muslim way of life is so deeply entrenched in these two countries that we are silly to think that we could can change the order of their thousand year old culture. It's been the position of many, many Americans that this war should have come to a grinding halt many years ago! Let us ask ourselves, are we any further ahead now than we were four years ago? If the answer is "no" than we the American citizenry must have the last say! Get off your fannies and go to your elected officials and tell them that we have had enough of spending over one trillion dollars on a war that has gone no where! Tell them we need to invest in America again, to help energize this economy, so jobs can become plentiful again! This country is in a major depression and her people are starving! We need this money here in America to feed her children! Enough is enough! Tell them to not send more troops in a country that we will never be able to invest safely in! It's a travesty that this war has lasted this long! We have the blood of those people on our hands and the word is out on the streets that President OBama is looking at his only term in office if he doesn't do something to stop this war now!
