Is a Pomeranian the Dog for You?

SJD
The Pomeranian is a small breed of dog who comes from within the Spitz family. It is referred to as a Toy Dog Breed due to its small size which ranges from three to seven pounds and seven to twelve inches in height. However, what this dog lacks in size it makes up in attitude.

The Pomeranian is an energetic little dog. They are loyal, eager, intelligent, and stubborn from time-to-time. The Pomeranian makes an amazing companion. They are never happier than when cuddled up beside or on the lap of their owner. They love cuddles and hugs and are the perfect pet for someone who has plenty of time to spend with a dog. The Pomeranian can be stubborn and wilful. This means you must be consistent and direct with your training from an early age. Pomeranians can develop barking tendencies if they are not taught from a young age not to do so. However, they are always eager to please and shower lots of love.

The Pomeranian is a happy little dog who loves to prance around. The Pomeranian is usually found in solid colours of red, orange, white, cream, blue, brown, or black. From time-to-time you may find multi-coloured Pomeranians. Their face is often described to the likeness of a fox and many of them look like they're constantly smiling at you. They are absolutely adorable dogs.

This lively little dog will suit apartment living as well as house living. All that is required in terms of exercise is regular walks. They have mountains of fur which must be brushed on a regular basis. They do shed on a constant basis so regular brushings will minimize the shedding.

The Pomeranian is an amazing companion and can develop into a life long friend who is loyal beyond measure. However, when considering a Pomeranian as a pet please consider these few things for your well-being as well as the Pomeranians.

1. You will need to spend alot of time in your first months with the dog training him/her not to bark and to obey basic commands. This must be done at an early age as Pomeranians can be stubborn if not taught early on who the boss is.

2. This little dog has alot of fur. You will need to devote sufficient time brushing and grooming this dog to keep the fur from matting and to minimize the shedding.

3. This little dog needs constant companionship. They like to be with people. Do you have sufficient time to spend with this loving little dog, or are you working a full time job?

The Pomeranian can make an amazing pet and a companion for life. However, it is also a dog not suited for all lifestyles, so make sure you do your research and consider these things before rushing out to buy one. If you do decide to make the jump, congratulations you've made a friend for life!

I have a pomperanian myself. She is a "princess" in our house. The kids love her and she loves them in return. She is always there to greet me when I come in and will let me know when something unusual is happening outside. However, she constantly needs grooming. I've never seen so much hair in my life. But she is worth the pampering. Thank for a great article. Maybe others will appreciate the value of a four legged friend called a Pomeranian.
