Is it possible? A great lobster roll in Brooklyn?
This New Englander was blown away by Walter Foods' lobster roll

It being summer, fresh lobster can mean only one thing -- lobster rolls. So forgive me for being skeptical when I was told that I could find a great lobster roll in Brooklyn. I mean, by the time the lobster gets to New York, it has to have been sitting around in some skuzzy truck for a few days, right?
Well, I was dead wrong. A few of my coworkers and I headed over to Walter Foods at 253 Grand St. in Brooklyn the other day. We were interested in sampling what looked to be an amazing menu, including their aforementioned lobster rolls.
I'll be honest. I really only got their lobster roll so I could have something to complain about since I was cranky and in the complaining mood.
But the first bite into that mound of succulent lobster meat, perfectly seasoned and with the just right amount of mayo (a true lobster roll aficionado will tell you that it's all about the mayo distribution) and piled on a perfectly buttered and toasted roll shut me up then and there.
My colleagues couldn't believe that I was able to keep my mouth shut for longer than 10 minutes, but Walter Foods' lobster roll did the trick.
You can find cheaper lobster rolls in the city (at $24 with fries, it's no steal, but honestly where in New York City can you find a bargain on seafood these days?) but will be hard-pressed to find one that has more thought and care behind it.
Walter Foods has made me a believer. Good lobster rolls can be found in Brooklyn. Now if we can only import one from Maine to have a competition!
