Making a living working at home does require some effort. Contrary to the advertisements you might see on television or read in an e-mail, you are not going to get rich overnight working at home. In addition, many people who make a living working from home put more hours in, not less, than if they were working in an office. Still, the flexibility of working at home combined with the satisfaction of being your own boss can make the extra hours well worth it.
Many of the people that make a living working from home are stay-at-home moms. Mothers that have children under the age of six are the smallest percentage of the employed workforce in the United States. Interestingly enough, they are also the largest percentage of people making a living working from home! And it is not just stay-at-home moms that are working from home, either. Many dads with children under the age of six also work at home, although not in the same proportions as moms.
In many ways, to make a living working from home, you have to be good at more than whatever it is that you are doing for a living. You might be an amazing writer, or you might make the best crafts in the state. However, if you don't have marketing skills, you're not going to sell your writing or your crafts. If you don't have people skills, you're not going to be able to retain clients to keep buying the things that you sell. If you don't have a grasp of business skills, you won't be able to turn a profit. Making a living working from home requires you to wear many hats.
There is no reason not to try making a living working from home. Not only is it possibe, but it is also realistic as many people have done it before you. By hearing their advice and being dedicated to your work, you can make a living working from home.
