What are these phone plans, you ask? They are called prepaid phone plans, and they are a great way to save money. A prepaid phone is a contract free phone that will cost much less than a normal phone plan if it is utilized correctly. The phone plans will all vary slightly, but the ones I have used cost about a quarter per minute.
Who should use them? Well, people who do not talk very often are the main target audience for this type of phone plan. If you talk for hours upon hours a day, then this phone plan is not for you. In fact, if you talk a lot, you might end up spending more on this type of phone plan than you would on a normal phone plan. But for those of you who only use your cell phone for emergencies and the occasional phone call, this phone plan will fit you perfectly.
As for payment, you can do that in several different ways. Many prepaid phone plans are available at local stores such as Target, Walmart; etc. Most gas stations will also allow you to purchase more minutes from them. Or you can simply log on to the Internet and buy your minutes that way. And a final way to purchase minutes is to simply buy them from the phone itself.
How does purchasing minutes work? You buy minutes whenever you are low on them, or when your airtime is about to expire. Purchasing minutes is a simple process. If you go to a store to buy them, you will see your phone company and a variety of minute packages. Simply select the one you want. Do you want to spend fifteen dollars for four hours worth of air time or would you rather spend a hundred dollars for even more minutes? The choice is yours. If you buy your minutes online or with your phone, then simply use your credit or debit card for the purchase. It's that simple.
As for phone selection, there are quite a few different types of prepaid phones out there. I've seen the Razor phone, among other more standard types of phones. I'm sure there will be at least one that suits your tastes.
Buying a phone doesn't have to be a hassle anymore, and more importantly, it has become much more affordable these days. So if you're looking for a way to save money on your phone bill, take a look at the prepaid phones. You will not regret it.
