Is President Obama Muslim and is This Why He Did Not Offer an Easter Proclamation?

President Obama did not issue an Easter proclamation, which is the holiest of holidays in the Christian religion. The President's lack of recognizing this holiday with a proclamation, has prompted some questions regarding the Commander and Chief's own religion.

Some of the articles have pointed out that the President has issued proclamations for many religious holidays, including the Muslim holidays. In America, where Christians out number greatly those who practice the Muslim religion, what was his reasoning behind this lack of honoring Easter and Good Friday with a proclamation? This has prompted the question, Is President Obama Muslim?

The Student Operated Press (SOP) published an article titled, "Americans are Justified in Believing Obama is an African Muslim. This comes after much media hype over the President not recognizing Easter with a presidential proclamation, as he has with other religious holidays that Americans celebrate.

While the article in the Student Press welcomes the separation of state and religion, this is not the reason that Easter was neglected. The article states, "But the Panderer-In-Chief has released statements recognizing the observance of the Muslim holidays Ramadan, Eid-ul-Fitr, Hajj, and Eid-ul-Adha. For Allah`s sake how many Americans have even heard of these holidays?"

The author of this article, Robert Paul Reyes, makes a case that sets out to validate the foundation for the many Americans to question whether Obama is Muslim or not, after his lack of acknowledging the Easter holiday with a proclamation. The author finishes the article with, "Until Obama releases his birth certificate and stops pandering to Muslims, it`s perfectly kosher to refer to him as a Muslim who was born in Africa."

While other articles were much more selective with their words and not as direct as the article in the Student Operated Press, the same issue was pondered.

The L.A. Times published an article titled: "The Increasingly Odd Political Optics of Barack Obama." This newspaper approached the issue with suggestions, but no accusations.

"It's one thing to laugh off the uninformed belief of millions of countrymen that Obama is a Muslim. It's another to issue meticulous presidential messages and proclamations on what strike many Americans as the most obscure holidays of various religions around the world, then skip official notice of Easter in the predominantly Christian country they elected you to lead."

Fox News had Robert Jeffress, the Senior Pastor of First Baptist Church in Dallas on their news cast on Monday. He spoke with Fox News anchor, Steve Docey regarding the lack of an Easter proclamation from President Obama.

The Pastor Jeffress said to Docey, "On the one hand, we have a president who never met a Muslim holiday he didn't like or at least wasn't willing to issue a proclamation for, and on the other hand, here he is refusing to acknowledge publicly the most important event in Christian faith -- the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead."

Pastor Jeffress continues with, "and yet the White House is wondering, Why do 20 percent of Americans believe the president is a Muslim?" This was discussed in The Dallas Morning News.

At a White House briefing on Monday, when Press Secretary Jay Carney was asked why President Obama did not release an Easter Proclamation, he laughed, as seen on Fox News Live. He continued on to address this issue by saying that the President did go to an Easter services with his family, making the case that the President did recognize Easter. This was also discussed in The Salt Lake Tribune. The press secretary did not answer the question as to why the proclamation was not issued.
