Is Prince Harry Going to Iraq?

Insurgents Have Threatened to Kidnap or Kill the Prince Causing a Frenzy

The UK Ministry of Defence is had to make a statement concerning the deployment of Prince Harry after much speculation on whether he would go the unpopular war. Further, would his going endanger him or his troops beyond normal. They issued the following statement on their Website:

The Defence: A site for the UK Ministry of Defence would only say:
"There is extensive media coverage of HRH Prince Harry's potential deployment to Iraq. Prince Harry's deployment to Iraq is, as we have always said, under constant consideration. It remains our intention that Prince Harry will be deployed as a Troop Leader."

Seemingly contrary to the reports that have surfaced claiming that Prince Harry will be deployed to Iraq regardless of safety issues, seem to be exaggerated. In fact, it would seem if Britain did deploy Prince Harry, that status would not be revealed to the media.
Insurgents have made threats against his life, and claim that anyone who hates the British and America will go after him. Prince Harry is a Troop Leader, but his deployment does not mean that he would see battle. Though he is trained for it, the public relations nightmare that would ensue if Harry were kidnapped or killed may be above the price that even George Bush can pay.
Prince Harry would be the first member of the royal family to be deployed in over 25 years when his Uncle Andrew fought in Afghanistan.

If Prince Harry were deployed, that would take place in the early summer. He would be in command of 11 soldiers.

Prince Charles has declined to speculate.

Prince Harry is the youngest son of Prince Charles and Princess Diana.
