Is Punk Dead?

Is Punk dead? This is a much more complex question that one would assume. Punk Rock will be offended if you don't separate it into at least 15 categories, because punks still want to be punks without liking or knowing of GG Allin, while some punks would consider you a poser if you didn't at least know of of Mr. Allen's existence. This article isn't meant to explain all the sub-genres of punk, but briefly there is 1st wave 2nd wave and then "everything after" in the later you will find New Wave, Post-Punk, Hardcore, Riot Grrl, Emo, among other genres which are punk influenced by punk or punk ideals but have added their own take on the music. Beware though reader there is no science and correct answers really to when musical era's began what bands "really" were this or not. It is very opinionated especially for this topic. Wikipedia thinks Emo started in the 80's which I scream and argue is completely wrong. I'm very off subject. Punk is dead definitely, but if you listen to the Misfits at all you should know that that doesn't stop it from existing.Real Punk may be dead but it is a zombie, or ghost or skeleton that rocks out and can still get drunk and break chairs. Death doesn't really stop punk.

So maybe blink 128 re-invented punk to someone who is now 14. Just don't tell anyone who was around for the {cough} "real" thing. Those kids aren't so bad they just need to get thrown into a mess of sweaty-in-need-of-shower-beer-soaked rockers circling and hitting each other to music that just sounds like a chainsaw on crack. That is the punk I know, but it's supposed to be freedom and protest and aggression and slightly fashion conscious too. Whatever though, to each their own. If your in the Midwest find and go to Bernie's Distillery (road trip if you must) on a packed night, get loaded scream your head off, aquire a bruise and throw up on your shoes.
