Is the Quaker Aunt Jemima Product Recall a Scam?

Quaker Oats announced on March 4 that it's recalling some Aunt Jemima pancake mix products from 17 states due to fear of salmonella poisoning... (Blah, blah, blah...) Nobody's sick. Why in the world is Quaker releasing an article into the news about a product that has not made anybody sick, with only 2% of the boxes missing into warehouses, and with those food warehouses divided over 17 states?

In my opinion alone, this has got to be a scam.

My family will continue to eat our Aunt Jemima pancakes, and we will continue to eat all recalled foods if the news articles about the recall looks as silly as this Aunt Jemima Pancake Mix one does to me.

Quaker is looking for just 2 boxes of Aunt Jemima Pancake Mix, out of each 100 in this recall lot, that are hiding somewhere in a 17 state food warehouse area. And, nobody is sick. This recall is being done without knowing if the product will hurt you or not. This sends my bright red flags flying high.

When news of a food recall is made public, many people throw out good food that they must go spend money to replace. Pepsi owns Quaker (and others). Quaker owns Aunt Jemima Pancake Mix (and others). With the Aunt Jemima Pancake Mix food recall scare, as boxes of food go into the trash, we go to the store and fill our carts up with:

Pepsi, Fritos, Oatmeal, Lay's, Rustler Meat Snacks, Tropicana Juices, Hostess, Cracker Jack, Grandmas Cookies, Doritos, Ruffles, Smartfood Popcorn, Life Cereal, Cap'n Crunch, King Vitamin, Grits, Puffed Wheat, Rice-A-Roni, Rice Squares, Granola Bars, Gatorade, Fitness Water, Sobe, Mt. Dew, Dole Juices, Lipton Tea, and more.

Pepsi-Quaker-Aunt Jemima Pancake Mix get money for each extra trip to the grocery store that they can talk us into making. People don't just exchange a bad box of Aunt Jemima - they pick-up various things while at the store. People try different products to replace Aunt Jemima Pancake Mix, but the end money all goes to the same place

The sad fact is: We pay the large food companies to scare us. If this potential Aunt Jemima Pancake Mix salmonella food poisoning idea is so hazardous to us, why is it that we are not recalling each and every food product made by the people who let the potential salmonella scare get into an Aunt Jemima Pancake Mix labeled box?

Salmonella food poisoning makes 14 people, out of every 100,000 people, in the United States, sick enough to report being sick each year. In my opinion, those numbers are not high enough to justify scaring people into throwing away good food. Too many people go hungry in the United States every day for me to see any humor in Quaker food recall games.

The chance that you can get salmonella poisoning from Aunt Jemima Pancake Mix is extremely slim, even if you can find one of those elusive bad boxes. Salmonella is found in poultry products, unprocessed eggs or milk, meat, unsanitary water that has been around animals... And, salmonella is destroyed by cooking. Who eats raw pancakes?

In my opinion, it is totally wrong that the big food companies are allowed to scare people into giving them money with silly food recalls like this Aunt Jemima Pancake Mix recall going on today. I am 100% tired of seeing constant food recalls.
