Diagnosing your morning sickness is actually quite simple. If you are nauseated, pregnant well, you probably have morning sickness. Do certain things cause you to feel nauseated? Things that otherwise did not bother you? Do you suffer from that nauseating feeling at different times of the day? Frequently or once every few days? If you answered yes, chances are you have morning sickness. Congratulations in your expecting of a baby.

Try to keep from lying down after you have eaten to subside the morning sickness. Be sure you are still eating all of your meals regularly. Avoid at all costs spicy foods. Take naps during the day if you feel you need to, exercise, nothing too strenuous, but exercise is good for your body. Try eating salty potato chips, in some cases they have been known to settle a stomach so well, that women can eat an entire meal.

Some woman have reported that smelling a lemon or ginger has helped their nausea. Try drinking lemonade and eating a piece of watermelon have also been said to relive the morning sickness. Keep your distance from warm areas. Such as a friends house that is always very warm, warmer temperatures can actually add to the nausea.

Avoid drinking with your meals. Wait a bout thirty minutes or so after you have finished your meal to get a drink. Try not to guzzle your drink down If really cold or hot liquids cause your stomach to become upset, pour your drink when you are setting you plate and let it sit on the counter until it is time for you to drink it. If there is something in particular that you want to eat, as long as you feel you can go ahead and eat it. Try eating some crackers a few minutes prior to getting out of bed.

However if in connection to your nausea you are frequently vomiting as well you may have a more serious condition. You should get in touch with your physician as soon as possible. Your doctor may want to determine whether or not you have hyperemesis gravidarum.

Hyperemesis gravidarum is severe nauseating, with weight loss and in some cases an electrolyte imbalance. In the less severe cases of hyperemesis gravidarum your doctor may just put you on a new diet with some antacids and suggest some rest. The more severe circumstances may require you being admitted into a hospital. This is done to re-hydrate the expecting mother and give her essential nutrition through an IV. By absolutely no means what so ever should you take any medication in an attempt to end the symptoms with out being directed by you obstetrician.

Definitely notify your doctor if you are having more than usual nausea and vomiting is keeping you from being able to keep food in your stomach. If you have a fever and pain as well as the vomiting. And if the vomiting has lasted into the second trimester, generally anything that is after your thirteenth week of pregnancy.

For the most part you will not have to deal with morning sickness for too long. Your symptoms should disappear by the time you reach you twelfth week of pregnancy. If you feel that something else might be the cause for your morning sickness, contact your medical care provider. Ask as many questions as you feel you need to in order for you to leave the office with a complete understanding and answers to all of the questions you asked.

For the most part treatments for morning sickness lean more towards cutting down on the nausea instead of trying to solve the root problem. There are multiple treatments for morning sickness. Some will work well on you and others may not. Then there is the possibility that some of the treatments that are suggested may cause your symptoms to worsen. The results of thee treatment will vary just as much as the Mother's to Be will vary.

Try to drink after you have finished your meals. Whenever possible wait a minimum of thirty minutes after you have finished you meal before you begin drinking your drink. Do not guzzle your drink down fast. Take it slow.

Instead of eating only three larger meals a day, try to cut the portions down and eat more frequently. You should still eat about the same amount of food, just spread out throughout the day.

Ginger is excellent for subsiding morning sickness. You can take it in a drink, such as tea, ginger ale, ginger snaps and even in a capsule form.

Increasing your intake of vitamin B6, can be effective in minimizing morning sickness. Usually done in either pyridoxamine or pyridoxine and is usually taken with a combination of antihistamine doxylamine.

If you are craving a food, give in to your craving. When your body is craving a specific thing it is generally trying to tell you that it is lacking something.

Before you get out of bed in the morning you might want to try eating some crackers. This will settle your stomach before you start having to deal with morning sickness.

Do not get directly out of bed when you wake up in the morning. Wait a few minutes before you start to move around and get out of bed. Slowly get out of bed. This should help you in minimizing your morning sickness.

If your morning sickness can not be brought down to a tolerable level by the previously mentioned treatments, your doctor may then determine if a prescription medicine is in order. If deemed necessary the doctor might prescribe an anti-nausea medicine. If the pregnant mother is dehydrated or undernourished as a result of morning sickness she will then most likely be diagnosed with a condition known as hyperemesis gravidarum.

Zofran seems to be the favorite medication prescribed to expecting mothers to help them with their symptoms.

The name morning sickness can be very misleading. Generally pregnant mothers more frequently experience nausea in the morning, but that does not limit the nausea to only being in the morning. Morning sickness in many women has been experienced in the afternoon as well as the evening. It does seem to be experienced more frequently in the morning due to the levels in blood sugar that have become depressed because of the night without food.

Some early signs of morning sickness can be noticed in the first month of pregnancy. In some cases women mistake the morning sickness for other things, as they did not know at that time that they were pregnant. They do however, seem to experience a peak in morning sickness around six weeks into the pregnancy with a decrease in symptoms in the twelfth week. In rare cases some women have morning sickness throughout their entire pregnancy.
