Second, let's explore how Reiki works. As long as we are alive, we all have a life force running through our bodies. I visualize this life force as a stream running through us like water running in a beautiful creek. Thanks to being present here on Earth we are prone to letting our life experiences disrupt how this life force stream runs through our body. Think of this disruption as twigs, sandbars, junk throw in by yahoos, too much rain, not enough rain, or folks wading; each of these things changes the flow of the water as does experiences you have just living life.
These disruptions manifest within our bodies as physical, mental, emotional and/or spiritual stress or illness. A Reiki practitioner sends energy to these blocks or disruptions of the life force to clean out any debris in the stream by placing their hands on the area. I visualize these blocks as either dams (major problems) or an area where debris like sticks or tree branches (minor problems) have collected.
Third, let's explore what happens when Reiki healing energy is working on an affected area. As a Reiki Master, I begin each session with a prayer. I start by expressing my gratitude to God, the angels and any guides who are present for their assistance with the healing session. I ask that they help me be a clear and open channel for healing for my client and that I be guided to put my hands where it would be of the highest healing benefit for my client. I have done this enough now that before I have finished my prayer I am in what I call the zone. I have set my ego aside and have surrender to God's will and instructions. I then put my hands on my client and begin using Reiki symbols to boost the power of the healing. The energy from the Universe (God Source) comes through me and exits out my hands. This causes my hands to heat up and start delivering the healing energy to the client. Notice the healing does not come from me, I'm just the tunnel it travels through to get to my client.
Fourth, you do not have to be a believer in Reiki for it to work. Reiki Sessions can be used by anyone and can help everyone. You do not have to study it or understand what is happening for Reiki to work to its highest potential. I must point out that some people are not comfortable with the thought that they can be healed by having someone putting their hands on them. They want to take some sort of medication or have a surgery or some other demonstration of healing that seems normal. That is okay. I am not comfortable with forcing or insisting that someone try something that makes them so uncomfortable. I hope one day that they will change their minds and give Reiki a try. It's an awesome experience.
I invite anyone to try Reiki just once so they can experience the loving, healing energy for themselves.
