Is Ron Paul the Last Patriot in Washington D.C.?

Congressman Dr. Ron Paul of Surfside, Texas, was first elected to Congress in 1976 and gained a reputation as being the country's leading spokesman for the concepts of sound money, free markets and Constitutional government, along with an allegiance to the principals of personal liberty, strong national defense and non-interventionism. In other words, Paul is a clone of the founding fathers of the United States, and he has a tremendous "underground" following. However, the mainstream media treated him as a joke. For all those that called him a quack, or even "un-American", they were spitting on George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, the Constitution and therefore America itself. Apparently, freedom and civil liberties are no longer en vogue in America. Apparently an allegiance to these values make one unelectable in America. If that is the case, the flag should be removed, we should not call ourselves America, and just call ourselves whatever the name of the banker's group, oil company or whatever other corporation the politicians are beholden to.

Dr. Paul is the last Patriot in Washington D.C., which has now become a mecca for self aggrandizing aspiring celebrities who are beholden to whatever lobbyist group or power broker can stroke their ego and wallet. It's capitalism run amok in "public service" as tax paying slaves fund their party and then worship the politicians like kings. I remember learning in elementary school that the signers of the Declaration of Independence literally risked their lives to create an environment where the government would function as an artificial tool to serve the people so they would never have to live at the mercy of the few and the powerful. The true patriot refused to do as he was told and questioned authority, now you are branded as unpatriotic and un-American if you don't blindly support the president and military regardless of what they do. How did this happen? Technically America is the constitution and the Bill of Rights period and the people are the government and the politicians are elected officials who are supposed to represent this.

Dr. Paul once said that he always had a natural instinct to be free, to have the government leave him alone. Psychologists agree that a person who feels he only exists for the benefit of someone else suffers psychologically and is dehumanized. The founders realized this - the desire for individualism within all of us. It seems that few people desire this, let alone demand it. Most people are mindless wage slaves and consumers of endless stuff and gadgets. The spirit of rebellion against a presidency and congress that has unapologetically violated the constitution with an undeclared war, wiretapping, and even the suspension of habeas corpus is gone. The President, and the military swear an oath to defend the Constitution alone, and than circumnavigate it to satisfy a lust for power, bravado, and the very imperialism and worship of authority that we allegedly fought against in wars against fascism and communism.

One of Dr. Paul's nicknames was Dr. No because he refused to vote for anything that went against the Constitution and refused to vote for pay raises that took money away from taxpayers. This made him very unpopular, and an oddball in Congress. One of his awards from the National Taxpayers Union was called "The Taxpayers' Best Friend". Apparently a commitment to U.S. taxpayers and the Constitution makes someone a joke, quack, and unelectable in the United States of America. I am still disgusted by how he was treated by the Republican candidates and the mainstream media for not only their rude treatment of Dr. Paul, but his principals, which sum up America. If you don't like Paul personally, that's one thing, but if you don't like his message, you don't like America. That's not even subjective, it means you don't like the technical definition of what America is.

Born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Dr. Paul graduated from Gettysburg and The Duke University School of Medicine. He served in the U.S. Air Force as a flight surgeon in the 1960s, then moved to Texas in 1968 to begin a medical practice in Brazoria County. Ron Paul and his Carol make their home in Surfside Beach, Texas. They are the parents of five children and have 15 grandchildren.

One congressman commented that Ron Paul "personified the Founding Father's conception of citizen statesman. He made it clear from the start that his principles would never be compromised, and they never were. There are few people in public life who through thick and thin, rain or shine, stick to the their principles. Ron Paul is one of those few."
