Is Sabrina's New Song "I Wanna Shoot Lady Gaga" Too Violent?

Sabrina's new song "I Wanna Shoot Lady Gaga" is going to cause a lot of controversy. So is "I Wanna Shoot Lady Gaga" too violent?

Sabrina might not be as well-known as Lady Gaga, but the musician has found a way to use the artist known for her kooky costumes to cause a little controversy. Her song "I Wanna Shoot Lady Gaga" is styled similarly to some of Lady Gaga's songs, with a pop/dance beat and plenty of auto-tune. However, the lyrics in her song are likely to stir up more controversy than any of Lady Gaga's greatest hits.

Despite being titled "I Wanna Shoot Lady Gaga", most of the lyrics are composed of the line "Shoot Lady Gaga," almost making it sound like Sabrina is telling someone else to shoot Lady Gaga. Other lyrics repeated throughout the song are "She's a L.A. diva" and "She's crazy."

In short, Sabrina definitely put style over substance here, but what substance this song does have won't likely sit well with Lady Gaga's "little monsters". And to make matters worse, there's currently a big debate going on about gun-related imagery being used in politics (definitely not the best timing for this release).

The picture accompanying "I Wanna Shoot Lady Gaga" (which you can hear here) shows a water gun, which is likely Sabrina's way of trying to show that the song is all in fun. In a blog posting, Sabrina also tries to explain that the song isn't about killing an actual human being in "lonely, insecure" Stefani Germanotta, but killing her alter-ego Lady Gaga, which Sabrina describes as "slutty" and "morally bankrupt". She also jokes that she'd like to shoot Perez Hilton, too, and threatens to attack Lady Gaga with a squirt gun loaded with holy water on the red carpet.

The funny thing about Sabrina's blog post is that she attacks Lady Gaga for using gimmicks to get attention, while she's using a much more offensive one of her own with "I Wanna Shoot Lady Gaga". But, as violent as the lyrics to her song are, violence in music is nothing new (just look at how far rappers like NWA and Eminem have gotten using violent lyrics; it really does sell in the music industry).

So will Lady Gaga fire back, or simply ignore an artist that will likely never become one tenth of the star that she is? Stay tuned to see if Sabrina has managed to start another celebrity feud or if she simply fizzles out.
