Most Americans, especially teenagers are impressionable. The media keeps getting racier and racier. You can't even turn on the television without seeing a commercial for male enhancement or pick up a tabloid without reading something about a divorce or an affair. There's no doubt about it that this is a bad influence on teens and young adults. Yet, just because a person has morals, it does not mean that they use them. It could be an act for appearance in order to look good. Moral people do not always act moral. Most people would steal a wallet if they found one lying around somewhere, and most people believe stealing is wrong.
You can't enforce morals on people, but the media does play a big part in who we are. The average person watches a few hours of TV a day and reads the tabloids. The truth is that you can't put people in bubbles forever, and they are going to be exposed to good and bad things. People decide for themselves who they are and what values they have. However, people are heavily impacted by the things they see and hear around them.
This question has no definitive answer; it really depends on your point of view. Your answer is also based on how you define morals and measure them. In my opinion, morals are not really declining by any significant means. People who do not have any morals to begin with are acting more and more immoral. Fortunately, there is plenty of proof and evidence that moral people still exist. There are still people who do good things for others, and yes the Good Samaritan still exists. As a whole, our society is not letting go of its morals.
