If you are interested in getting a Bachelor's of Education degree you may want to consider getting an online education degree. There are a number of online universities and online colleges that are offering teaching degrees online. To see if an online education degree is a smart choice for you, here are few questions to ask yourself.

How much time do you have to devote to your degree? Getting a teaching degree online may take up considerably more time than getting a traditional degree. Where as with a traditional degree you would spend time in class, with an online education degree you will be spending a lot of time in front of the computer teaching yourself.

Will you want to work while in school? Working can be difficult when you are enrolled in a traditional degree program and having to go to campus on a regular basis. If you need to work while in school an online education degree may be the better choice as you would be able to do your class work at any time of day.

Do you need lectures to learn? With an online teaching degree most of your learning will come through you reading things as opposed to sitting in a classroom and hearing lectures. If you learn better from lectures then you would be better served with a traditional education program.

Is the online school accredited? Not all online schools have regional accreditation. If you plan on furthering your education you will want to be certain that you attend an accredited online school for your Bachelor's of Education degree.

Will you learn the same things? Some online education programs have a curriculum similar to those of traditional programs. And some have drastically different programs. You will want to compare the curriculum of the program you are interested in to see if it is similar to make sure you will be learning the correct things.

Will you be able to student teach? A vital part of an education program is getting to student teach before you earn your degree. You will want to see of the online education program you are interested in is setup so that you can get your student teaching experience.

Will you have licensing problems? Before signing up for a teaching degree online you should ensure that you will not have any problems getting licensed as a teacher with an online degree. Your school board may even have a list of approved online education programs.

Who teaches the online education program? If you find an online education program that you like you should inquire about the qualification and experience of the teachers for the program. You want to be sure that you are learning from the best people you can be. You may find that the teacher selection process is a bit different for online education programs compared to your local university.

What is the successful certification rate? You can judge the quality of an online education program based on the percentage of successful certifications of graduates of the program. Any reputable online education program should have those numbers available for you.

Can you motivate yourself to do the work? With an online education program you are responsible for logging into your online classroom when needed and turning in work on time. You will not have the accountability of having to be in a classroom weekly. If you cannot motivate yourself to do the work on a regular basis then an online teaching degree may not be the best option.
