The Viroxyn is available in the form of ointments, treatments, and lipsticks. These products are available in all the leading dental stores. Before applying the medicine, clean the affected area with pure water. Gently apply the medication over the affected area - avoid rubbing the medication roughly on the affected, which damages the skin cells.
For best results, the gentle massaging process must proceed for at least 10 seconds, or, until the drug spreads thoroughly over the affected area. Massaging should be done in such a way the medication should penetrate the sub-epidermal layer of the skin of the infected tissues. If needed, continue massaging until all the medication exhaust.
Single treatment approach works fine in the majority of patients; however, improper handling of the vial due to the fear of touching a sore lesion and thus lack of liable compliance may need a second application of the medication. If there is secondary infection on the same area where already cold sore is exist, which requires a new application of the medication.
Different people have various medications based on their requirement level. If it is the initial cold sore tingling stage, then rub very vigorously over the infected area. If the cold sore stage is more advanced and open-sore stage then rub for longer time; however, the rubbing should be done less vigorously. Some people may have thick and tough skin due to the prolonged exposure to the extreme weather may need both longer and more vigorous rubbing as contrasting to the youngsters.
Rarely a second treatment may be needed; however, it is an uncommon event. If the infected people use soap, toothpaste, or other cleansers, they may require the second treatment. The use of soaps and other cleansers results in an anionic reaction, which inactivates the medication. If the medication is deactivated due to the usage of soaps and cleanser, the lesion may appear to start healing; however, it may reappear later. The lesions may also blow up in another location; however, it would be very close to the original spot. Hence, it is vital to apply the medication to the area present around the infected region, not just on the lesion alone.
Since Viroxyn is a virucidal medication, it works faster than the other anti-cold sore remedies. Because it directly attacks the lipid layer of the virus, it can kill the virus. However, the other cold sore remedies could arrest only the replication of the virus, and could not kill the virus. Hence the treatment done using Viroxyn is known as the best cold sore treatment.
