Is There a Difference Between Kindle and Nook Iphone Apps?

Which One Will Work Best for You?

I have been hesitant to purchase a Nook from Barnes And Noble or a Kindle from Amazon since the release of both products. I have always liked having a tangible book in my hand. There is something about the feel the paper and the smell of the ink as I flip through the pages that have been part of my love affair with reading since my childhood. That was until, I discovered the Iphone app for both products.

Since both products offered a free Iphone app, I decided to compare Nook and Kindle to see if there was a difference. Both Kindle and Nook deliver directly to my Iphone, both offer free books; in fact they appear to be the same free books. Prices are similar on most books and both appear to offer similar books.

The Iphone app for both Kindle and Nook are easy to navigate and clear to read. If I were to have any complaint about either of these it would not be in reference to the app but the small screen of my Iphone.

No, I won't be using my Kindle Iphone app or the Nook Iphone app for reading my favorite novel, but they are great for a quick reference at my fingertips or for shorter stories while traveling on a plane or train, though I am more likely to use my Audible Iphone app for trips of any length as the smaller screen requires a page flip about every two to three paragraphs.

What the Nook Iphone app and the Kindle Iphone app have done for me is answered my debate about purchasing one of these products. I will probably choose the Kindle because it has the same features as the Nook but even the high end version of Kindle is cheaper than Nook.

I see little difference between the two Iphone apps for these products and find them both easy to use and access. Download time is quick for both and both offer a huge selection of books to choose from. If you are going to only use the Iphone app then I suggest choosing which store you are likely to purchase from most often as they are similar enough that you will not need both of them on your Iphone app list.

The benefits of these Iphone apps for Kindle and Nook is the ability to compare the two, decide if you can actually enjoy digital reading and you always have quick reference such as Strunk's "Element Of Style" at your fingertips.

The downside of having a Nook or Kindle Iphone app is the smaller screen. If you really want to read a book on a computer screen, I recommend the full size devices.
