Like life the NBA changes, rules in the NBA changes, the pace of the way the game is played changes, the way players play are different, the way a player is defended is different from even five years ago. Ever player that has potential to be amazing the NBA is compared to Michael Jordan. Why? Michael Jordan is considered to be the best player to ever play in the NBA. How can one man be considered the best to ever play the game of basketball? Nothing stays the same not even rules stay the same as proven when Kobe Bryant made the shot over the backboard Larry Bird did the same in a preseason game it didn't count. Now it does. Fouls that would've been called 5 seasons ago aren't called now as a foul yet some fouls that were called 5 years ago aren't called now. So how can one player be called the greatest player to ever play in the NBA when the NBA world evolves like life.
You can't it's impossible it's like saying whose the best musician ever. You could say that someone is the best pop artist or rapper but you can't say whose the best ever because like basketball each type of music is different like each basketball era is different. So you could say Michael Jackson is the best pop artist and you can say why because of lyrics the way he changed pop music just like you could say that Magic Johnson was the best basketball player of his generation because he did things that no one had ever seen someone do with a basketball. He was also one of the few players to ever play in the NBA who could play every position. He was also the only rookie to ever win a finals MVP he was a triple double threat every night. Magic Johnson was the best basketball player of his era.
Michael Jordan was the best of his era Kobe is the best of his era Lebron James is the best of his era with the way the NBA game changes you cannot say that one player is the best ever they have the best stats but can that make them the best to ever play. No, some players have amazing stats yet aren't called one of the best players to ever play or the best at their position. In order for a player to be the best player of their era they must have good stats and be a winner.
So, let's stop calling Michael Jordan the best player to ever play in the NBA let's start calling him the best player of his era, Kobe the best of his instead of the next Michael Jordan. Let each player make a name for themselves in their era instead of them trying to become the best ever because let's face it they can't become the best ever with the way the NBA evolves if the NBA rules, the way the game was played, then maybe there could be someone called the best to ever play in the NBA until then let's just say that they are the best of their generation.
