Why should you even bother? The first question necessarily has to be, why should I even bother to retain my virginity? What is the point? Does it even matter? The answer is dependent upon three main factors: emotional maturity of both partners, lifestyle habits and intelligence. Yes, intelligence has a factor in sexual relations. Let us examine all of these factors.
Emotional maturity. We are not talking about mental maturity, but emotional maturity. Emotional maturity is the ability to handle stress, lack of stress, drama and lack of drama, without allowing the circumstances around you to affect your concentration or state of mind. Without emotional maturity, you will not truly be able to separate yourself from the emotionally-fraught and intimate bonding experience of sex.
Lifestyle habits. Lifestyles greatly affect the ability to successfully handle losing your virginity. Many people cannot handle the stresses of "growing up" simply because they have never been taught how to grow up and be adult. This lack of training will put a delay on successfully losing your virginity without repercussions. Social pressure and curiosity add extra, unwanted weight to the situation after it occurs, and many young adults or teens cannot properly bear up under this weight. Extra pressure can be added if you do not have your life together, finances in order or your other relationships developed. Threat of pregnancy and, in the case of males, threat of abortion without their consent, adds to the burden.
The results of not having and maintaining proper lifestyle habits can very realistically be an emotional breakdown, possibly in public. Do not add this stress to your life. Sex is a wonderful bonding experience and was never intended to replace your loneliness at a bar on a Friday night.
Intelligence. Now we arrive at the subject of sex mixed with intelligence. Public opinion has generally considered irresponsible, dumber people to engage in meaningless sex with multiple strangers, and intelligent, thoughtful people to engage in loving sex with a long-term partner. Though these statistics are not entirely incorrect, sexual relations with a stranger more often than not actually results from someone not having enough healthy relationships in their life, and so they look for human connections in more unnaturally-selective settings. This can be due to lack of varied friends, lack of proper emotional connections between family members, or lack of social skills. The correlation between the smart and the dumb is simply that intelligent people usually have better developed skills concerning proper human bonding experiences, so they pick and choose their sexual partners more carefully.
Virginity is a valuable asset to own. When you lack wealth, looks or socialization, virginity can be your leg up (no pun intended) in the world of the opposite sex. When you lose your virginity, however, make sure that it is under the correct circumstances so that you do not have to nurse emotional wounds later on.

Post a CommentViginity, in my opinion, is only a huge deal with women because it's obvious when we lose it. I don't think it's some token to save for someone, and unfortunately we have a hymen that proves whether or not we are "pure"- I thnk it's unfortunate bullshit, quite frankly, and if you want to have sex it's too bad that there is a physical trait that makes losing one's virginity in females obvious. Of course, I don't think sex should be taken lightly, esp if you've never had sex before, but "losing your cherry" is such a huge deal in society, and I really wish it wasn't...
