Is Thirty the New Twenty?

It's Not Just a Song, Age Really is Just a Number

Is Thirty The New Twenty?

I remember when I turned twenty nine; I thought I only had one more year left to live before society and me thought I was too old to do anything. But then that day came. A year had gone by and it was my birthday. Again. Probably the last one I'd ever have right? I looked on it with obvious dread and severe reluctance, but yet there was nothing I could do about it. My life was over; I had nothing left to live for or so I thought. It took me a while, I had to look around myself with new eyes, eyes that were only one day older-but once I realized that there were people out there older than me, living their lives and actually looking like they were having fun doing it, I resolved to get back to the game of life and not let the number of years that I've lived determine how close to the grave I was standing.

Here are some facts to consider if your about to enter the third decade of your life and scared out of your wits that turning 30 is the new life killer.

METABOLISM
Even though it is true that your metabolism will slow after you reach the big 3-0, the good news is that you now have a better sense of what to crunch on. Finally, after three decades of your parents yelling at you to eat your greens, you've smartened up at last. Ok, so you still might not eat raw broccoli and that's okay but you have a much better sense of what's good for you. And you stick with it because now you have a better understanding of the saying, you are what you eat.

Get your groove on
Sex is better than ever in your thirties. That is, if you like it and who doesn't? It is said that our sex drive declines after your thirtieth, but on a good note, we can shout out with joy literally because orgasms are better. Why? Because we are more relaxed about our bodies as we grow older. We know we all have different body types and as we grow older and older most of us don't really care what other people think of us-mainly men-that means we don't have to try and hide under the covers or turn the lights out although we still do because it is a habit we have grown into and yes, habits are hard to break. We have the self-confidence to love ourselves and so when we are naked we can enjoy the pleasures that come along with sex-one of the better attributes, better O'S.

One of the great things about turning 30, besides the orgasms? You can be single and not care and that means you can be happy. Not a potential in sight and your still smiling. Between 18 and 29 years of age, it's all about having a boyfriend. If you have a boyfriend, you are someone and you are special, important, and most of all happy.

But here's the kicker. It's not men who make us happy, it's ourselves. Us and only us. No one else. And we start to realize that in our twenty ninth year you're done with all the games and drama that high school seems to drag you down with. You have more time for yourself and that means more time to find Mr. Right instead of Mr. Right now.

Bringing home baby
Tied into this would be whether or not you want to have kids. They say 40 is the cut off age. After 40 it is even harder to have kids but not really impossible. So if you want at least one you better start preparing, looking, and planning.

Turning 30 ultimately means having a better life and knowing what you want out of it. And one thing you need to know is if you want children or not. Honestly, you would know this when your hormones start to develop or in sex ed class, so if you have a little more than ten years to figure this out which is more than enough time I would start thinking if you want to be a mom.

There have been new studies which show that we are living longer and that fifty is not considered an old age anymore and so thirty is looking a lot more like twenty or dare I say it? Fifteen to some. So I would suggest going out and living. Adventure more, have more sex, have a baby, eat right, exercise, and most of all laugh. After all, you only live once.
