Is it True that Edie is Leaving "Desperate Housewives"?

Edie is a Gonner on "Desperate Housewives"

Is Edie really leaving "Desperate Housewives"? Twice before, fans thought Edie was gone. Once she tried to hang herself, but Carlos arrived in the nick of time. The second time was at the end of last season when Edie was at odds with all the desperate housewives and drove out of town. Well, Edie came back this season with a new husband and a new attitude. Just when viewers were actually beginning to like Edie, the 45 year old, shapely vixen is leaving for sure.

A more human Edie is being revealed this season. In one episode, Edie's character brings to light that her father abandoned little Edie and her mother for another woman. Not only that, but he took Edie's favorite horse collection to give to his step-daughter. Even Susan cried for Edie that day.

Last week's "Desperate Housewives" has Edie bringing her entire boot camp exercise class to Gaby's house because Edie knows how much Gaby wants to fit into her red, slinky dress. This is very unlike the Edie of the past. Gaby actually drags herself out of bed because of Edie's thoughtfulness.

Who can possibly replace this sexy, brutally honest, yet conniving woman? Wisteria Lane will be left with a big hole to fill. Nicolette Sheridan has her role as Edie Britt down pat in one of the best rated comedy-dramas on network television. Viewers love to hate a villain and Edie always fills the bill. Edie is even more of an enigma now that she shows some selflessness.

What will whisk Edie away from Wisteria Lane? Could it be that her creepy, white-haired husband, Dave, has some diabolical plan in mind? He is due to kill one of the regulars on "Desperate Housewives". Dave already murdered his doctor, but that was just a peek into how far Dave will go to keep his plan in motion. It sets the stage for the murder of a regular character.

It only makes sense, that if Edie is leaving the show, she will be the one to die. The word from E! is that she gets into a car accident when she learns of Dave's plan to murder her, but it is not definite that the accident kills her. Maybe she'll take Dave out with her, transforming her into the savior of Wisteria Lane. Time will tell.

In any case, the message boards will be buzzing with the news of Edie's departure from Wisteria Lane and "Desperate Housewives". Some viewers may give up on the show, others may welcome Edie Britt's exodus. Hypothetical scenarios will be discussed, rants will be posted, and Edie will be the talk of the town, which she would love immensely.
