Is it a Vase, a Jug, a Pitcher? Whatever it is Causes One Heck of a Head Bump
I Am Convinced This Will Be the One Item to Survive a Nuclear Holocaust
At twenty minutes until church began, I knocked over a picture on the same chest which then knocked over the vase, jug, pitcher-whatever it is. My first thought was, "that almost knocked me out." Very soon I felt a warm, sticky feeling running down the side of my head. Yes, it was blood. Before I could move three feet it was gushing. I have never seen this much blood-not even when my head was cut in a car accident or when I was six and a swing set hit me in the head.
After screaming to my husband, he ran into the bathroom. His words, "Oh man" did not help me relax much. I started to panic because I am petrified of blood. I do not look when lab is taken at the doctor's office. I had to look yesterday because it was everywhere. It is amazing how much the head bleeds. I was terrified the jug was broken and I would have to listen to my mother-in-law complain but it survived. While I was crying during the panic attack that followed, I said, "Shawn your mother is going to kill me for breaking that vase." The vase did not contain a single scratch.
Thirty minutes later, the bleeding slowed way down. My pupils looked fine so we did not believe I had a concussion and my husband took the kids with him to church.
I decided to take a nap and that is probably not the best thing to do since one is supposed to keep watch after a head wound because sleepiness can indicate a concussion. The nap did not happen. I noticed blood on my pillow and more blood every time I changed sides. As time went on, the blood was continuing to seep. At 2:00 pm. my husband returned from church and decided we should go to the emergency room. So, we did and the physician discovered the wound was gaping so I went home with four staples.
Today someone I spoke with about this said my mother-in-law may have been lying about it being an antique as she has seen these for sale in stores. This same person then said, "maybe your mother-in-law placed a hex on it to do that to you?" She then laughed. While my mother-in-law and I have a lot of differences, I am not convinced she would do something like that but I thought it was pretty funny.
So here is a picture of the vase that did the damage. Several of my online friends asked how that would happen and could not believe the size of what fell on my head so I posted this to show them and decided to keep the story for my memoirs.
By the way, if you ever cut your head and it continues to bleed more than ten minutes later, you should go to the emergency room if it is the weekend or the doctor's office if it is during the week because you probably need stitches.
