Is the World Actually Coming Apart at the Seams?

Snidely Whiplash
Okay first the perfunctory admission: yes, many previous generations thought the world was ending in their time - Chicken Little and all that. But I am not remarking on the end of the world but merely the seeming wide spread global upheaval. Of course instant media lends to the appearance that it's all going to Hell in a hand basket at this moment, but golly, gee whiz Wally, Dad sure seems concerned, huh?

Riots in Greece and the UK coupled with economic miseries and new realities throughout the EU will see the public's unhappiness spread to Ireland, Spain, Portugal and Italy if careful measures are not taken. Mobs attacking the Prince and his consort is new, no? I mean sure Prince Philip isn't the most popular dude ever, but "Off with their heads?" Hmmm? Sounds like they'd like to do a Charles I on him. I mean, yeah, same name and all, but c'mon. So, who is the current leader of the Parliamentarians now that Cromwell is dead?

Wikileaks holds the US and the larger world hostage. The far left want to lionize Assange; the right wants to jail him and shut him down. Personally I am NOT for shutting anyone down under any circumstances. I say if he can be charged with a crime in the US, do it. If not, let's stretch PFC Bradley Manning's neck for treason. I am pretty sure the death penalty is still on the books (USC & UCMJ) in the proper circles to see that traitor swing. That I am all for, so much so I'll be happy to pull the lever on the trap door. But no hood for the condemned. I want him to look in my eyes and see my contempt for him and I want to enjoy his punk ass fear. Yea, I'm a prick, ain't I?

Stateside the anger is palpable. Democrats turning on their own; Obama losing sway with his own caucus; Pelosi running rogue and the far lefties in the US are absolutely incensed over the "bipartisanship" and "compromise" they scream for whenever they want Republican's to cave to their wishes, yet when they are in the minority, they act like the compromise is still incumbent upon the "other guys." Sorry lefties, but it does not work like that. The winners get to demand compromise of the losers, and not the way you want it. Get over it! Isn't that what they told me and mine when they won the Congress in '06 and the White House in '08? I'm damn sure certain it was.

Predictions of impending economic doom abound and still there are fools screaming for Keynesian economy. The problems are massive deficit spending for wishful programs of dubious merit to being with. Again, anyone else notice how Democrats hate, hate, hate tax cuts and claim they harm the economy, but when their electoral backs are against the wall they say "We need to cut taxes." Does this not then prove beyond doubt the incessant lie they hold dear that "tax cuts cost money?"

For the record, as has been forwarded lately, taxation IS NOT the problem...SPENDING is the problem. Cut spending and the future economic prosperity of the US will return. Keep spending more than we take in and then print money to buy back our own debt and we are in for a crash the likes of which most cannot fathom. Sorry that the commons sense measures to fix our nation's economy go 180 degrees opposite to the wishes of progressives, but I do not write the laws of physics and economics, but I am bound to adhere to them, and so are the lefties, no matter how much they whine about it.

In reality the sum total of this nation's, and yes, this planet's issues, are NOT global warming, overpopulation, too much freedom, private gun ownership, capitalism, Wal-Mart, Afghanistan or Iraq, unhappy Muslims, Kim Jong-Il, the United States of America or really any of the other things lefties cry about on an almost non-stop basis.

The problems in the world are not the EU having to get real and live within their means. It's not people having to work until they are 65 instead of like in Greece, retiring at 55 with full pensions, or 60 in France. The problems are not the artificially inflated price of oil, US imperialism, consumerism, Christians' celebrating Christmas, or Israel sitting where the UN and the UK saw fit to place it 60 plus years ago.

Having stated what the problems are not, here is what the problems ARE: Leftists, many of them extreme lefties, who have an agenda that is not workable, yet they want what they want no matter how much historical and empirical evidence proves beyond doubt that their desires are pipe dreams. The problems are unions demanding power far above their actual numerical ability to influence events. The problems are Keynesian economic types who actually think government is the source of wealth.

That our taxes are FIRST the government's and then ours if they see fit to let us enjoy the fruits of our labors. How can government NOT taking our money equate to them "giving " us something? So if I DON'T rob one, have I given them something? If I do not stomp 'em into a mud hole, have I given something to them? To hear lefties and government tell it, indeed NOT doing something to someone is akin to giving them something...screwy SOB's if one asks me!

That leftists think they get to set agendas no matter if they are the minority or not. The problems are found in Obamacare, which will near break us and destroy the most effective medical system in the world; the hundreds of thousands who will lose their jobs when the insurance industry goes under. I mean, I like the idea of covering preexisting conditions too, but as has been offered, is an insurance company obligated to sell home owner's insurance to man AFTER his house catches on fire? So, after the accident, should government demand Allstate cover your repairs when you had no policy with them before ya crunched your car?

The problems are found in people getting jobs for life in education and unions. The problems are found when we see people who believe living according to the Constitution is the problem. When people believe man can be engineered through massive social programs, to be what they imagine despite our couple million years of history that totally debunks such a sophomoric wish.

The problems are totally and entirely at the feet of those who are exceptionally disgruntled that the world is not what they want it to be and are willing to bring it down to it's foundations to hopefully rebuild it in their own image. It's about as mature as a child actually believing running away from home will end all their problems.

Any chance one morning upon awakening I will peer out my bedroom window and see a line of lefties marching down the road, their belongings tied up in a bandanna on the end of a stick that rests on their shoulders? I wish these people would run away from home. Hell, I'll help 'em and give 'em a ride outta town. Who says I ain't a nice guy?

Spend, spend, spend - like there is no bill coming tomorrow! That's what the gov't is doing! cheers :)

I can count on you guys when I need to know what's going on --nothing gets past you. Seriously.

Yes, indeed, lefties are the problem. Their desires are pipe dreams. They seek a Utopia that never comes. And people buy it, thinking it compassionate, caring, and all of the rest of that ludicrous crap. We've got to get them out of office, let government shrink, and then maybe, MAYBE, this hole into which they've dug the country will find its bottom.

Really liked this one Whippy. Exactly right that taxes aren't the problem, SPENDING is!

    Great food for thought!

As Donald sez, an enjoyable work, Whippy! I have found it interesting to hear the media referring to some Democrats complaining that they were not included in the discussions with the president and the Republicans ref: the tax issue 'compromise'. Like they included the Republicans in the Health Care bill discussions... Sigh .

re: Donald I wrote about Cass Susstein..long before the Alex Jones crowd chimed in lol. Excellent read..although I would not have a prob "shutting down" an "espionage" operation when it runs counter to our interests...the prob is trusting the gov't more than the loons w/the documents.

This is rather enjoyable. I was just turned on to some information about a man named Cass Susstein who, has suggested there be an infusion of "cognitive presence" (agents) on the Internet to harass anyone who decries government behavior. So, we have government agents, likely here on YCN who are paid to attack those of us who challenge our "Dear Leader."

I'm sick of it, Snidely. I'm sick of being somebody else's chump. I'm sick of the parasites. Now, before any gum slappers out here say I'm "talking dangerous" I'm not. I merely mean to say that, from now on, I refuse to cooperate and go along just to get along.
