Is the World Becoming Evil?

I can tell you right now, the answer is no. However, if you ask nearly anyone, they will say, "The world is falling apart, there are no morals anymore. Every human is becoming corrupt and evil! There are hardly any good people left anymore." It certainly seems like this is true, with all the violence and despair that is shown on the media everyday. Despite this, most of this planet's population, I believe, have not become evil or lost their morals.

This can be essentially proved by common sense. First of all, think of your family and all of your friends. Do you consider any of them evil or bad-hearted? Doubtful, and if you do believe someone to be that way, it is probably the odd-one-out. What makes other families different? It is difficult to fathom the complexity of the world, that every single human being is as multileveled as you. But with the media and the messages they send, it can become easy to think, "Everybody except me and the ones around me are good-hearted".

Many truths about life can be realized just by looking at things through another's view. Think about it; if millions of people around the country know that they are good but believe others are evil, then logically that means that millions of people are good, yet just think the world is otherwise.

Another logical point is that the country could not exist the way it is if the majority of the inhabitants were bad. There would be much more violence, chaos, and destruction then there is now. Society would not be able to function efficiently. Currently, we all live very safe lives. It is highly unlikely anybody will die tomorrow from an accident or murder. If there were a plethora of horrific citizens, a cohesive civilization such as this would not be possible.

One might say that the prison rate is an example of a declining society. Currently, one out of every one hundred Americans is imprisoned. A large percentage of prisoners are not in jail for hurting any other human. Many were just people who got addicted to hard drugs and are treated as criminals and sent to prison, instead of being given help. In fact, over half of prison inmates are in jail for something drug related. Society can be improved not by imprisoning so called bad people, but by reforming laws and helping people in need.

I think the problem with this is that a lot of the people that you say are good, a.k.a. family, friends are very selfish. I think the level of selfishness and entitlement is rising, that's what seems evil to me. People that may not kill someone, but will not do anything to help anyone but themselves, I'd call that evil. The fact that 1 in 25 people is a sociopath with no empathy or feelings is also quite shocking. They may not kill someone, again, what most consider evil, but someone who has no feelings whatsoever for anyone but themself, again, I believe is evil. Most people wouldn't notice this, but people who are psychologists, or well read can notice. Pretty frightening. The hurtful, bad things that people do, they've probably always done throughout time, so I don't county that, that's just people sucking. It's much LESS frightening than many times or places we could live in for sure, but given the right circumstances, the bad /selfish people around us would not stand up for what is right & would fall into the traps of the past.
