Is the World Ending?

Are Natural Global Disasters an Indicator of Upcoming Apocalypse?

Claire Luna-Pinsker
Hurricane Earl and Fiona are swirling around in the North Atlantic Ocean on August 31st, 2010. This is hurricane season, and many people believe both ongoing hurricanes are just an example of the dramatic natural weather changes occurring on our planet. Hurricanes form in the southern Atlantic Ocean, the Caribbean Sea or the Gulf of Mexico, tending to like warmer water. Acts of natural disaster due to extreme weather or earth changes are occurring more frequently. Do these acts of natural weather disasters tend to warn us of impending doom, predicting the world is about to end? Or are these natural occurrences just a continuance of the world's changing weather pattern cycle since our planet began?

The north coastal regions of the United States are watching the upcoming track of, Hurricane Earl, and already have emergency disaster plans in place. The nation's disaster plans have been sorely tested over the past few years, especially in the last major example of Hurricane Katrina. It's been five years since Hurricane Katrina and the region is still experiencing the impact of that natural weather disaster. As families, should we invest our time and our finances preparing disaster plans? The bomb shelters after World War 2 were in place due to the possibility of nuclear war? Should we have similar fall out shelters today, storm shelters? If a major global natural disaster occurs are we really prepared?

Tornados have devastated areas of the Midwest and other regions on our planet. Tsunamis have occurred after major earthquake activity. In 2004 there was a major, Indian Ocean Tsunami, which took over 300,000 lives after a magnitude 9 plus earthquake, the major damage occurring in Indonesia. (Info obtained from the following site.) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2004_Indian_Ocean_earthquake Several tsunamis have followed since then.

The world is shaking, altering the landscape of our planet. Besides earthquakes seemingly occurring more frequently, volcanoes are erupting, waking after hundreds of years. The Icelandic volcano, Eyjafjallajokull, erupted in April of this year after lying dormant for 200 years, disrupting travel to the UK due to an immense ash cloud. Mt. Sinabung, on Sumatra, an Indonesian island, erupted after lying dormant 400 years this past August. Each has a major impact on the stability of our planet.

Floods, with the resulting rising waters, erode our shorelines. Wildfires due to severe droughts and human carelessness have impacted our planet, wiping out natural resources, wildlife, and residential communities. In July of 2010, a devastated flood after several monsoons devastated a large region in Pakistan, affecting over 20 million people. The extremes in weather and the natural disasters are actions mankind can't control or even prevent any devastating impact on our planet. Will the ongoing increase and strength in these natural occurrences alter our existence on this world? We haven't determined if we could live on the moon or inhabit other planets.

Vice President Al Gore enlightened the world about global warming with his documentary, "An Inconvenient Truth." Some followers believe we are destroying our planet by the dangerous increase in greenhouse gas emissions, causing global warming. Polar icecaps are melting, altering ocean levels and destroying human and wildlife habitat. Will the effects from global warming initiate the end to our world as we know it? Pollution and the increase in carbon printing have to impact our planet's living resources.

The Mayan calendar allegedly predicts that on, December 21, 2012, the world will stop existing as we know it, insisting the signs are all here. You can view author Robert Blast's view on this subject with his book, "Survive 2012," at the following website link:

There are doomsday believers who are in preparation for this predicted global catastrophe. In November of 2009, the movie, "2012," came out, with a plot centered on the end of the world due to the Mayan prediction.

The world is in turmoil with conflicts and wars between countries. Nuclear or chemical warfare are both dangerous weapons many countries fear. What country could be the one to initiate the end of the world?

Christian religions believe in the, Apocalypse, the end of the world, when the anti-Christ will be born and start a major chain of events. Christ will return to receive his believers. The, Bible," describes this period in vivid detail in, Revelations, the last book in the Bible. Some Christians believe the end has already begun with the major global changes that are in place.

Is the world ending as we all know it? We all have to look at the global events occurring and make our own decision regarding this question. The next questions that have to be asked may be, "Are you ready for the end of the world?" Or maybe, "Can I do anything to stop it?" Or even, "Is this just foolish doomsday mentality?" You decide.

We have always had disturbing weather as well as good. I think the kind of weather the scriptures refer to will be unmistakable. We are in a countdown so it's inevitable.

Great subject. All I can say is God I hope not, I have so much to do ans see still. It is hard to ignore all of the signs though. Very similar happenings to those in the Bible.

We as humans are the cause of all this. We are in a hurry to beat out the next nation. We want faster and better. All that nature has given is taken away to build higher and stronger. What has been destroyed has not been fully replaced nor has the people come back. Globle warming is caused by man,and buildings. There is more of everything, companies out doing each other. Before this all started there was only one type of a car.Larger families, less room. Now it's more room, less families. It is not to late to turn things around. Smaller is better. Take all the plastic away, go back to paper.

The Bible does talks about similar situations that will occur during the end times. I believe that the stage is being set.

If today the world should stop turning, at least I know where I'll be going :) cheers!

The world will end when it ends or when the rich elites decide it will end...there's nothing that can be done about it.
